Damage commented on Halve Your Shipping Costs With Amtrak You get what you pay for.

Or, in this case, you have to haul the cargo to the station yourself and someone has to pick it up from the station themselves. Depending on where your recipient is, it could end up costing more (figure in your time and gas used) since the service area is strictly limited to what AMTRAK covers.

You all forgot the uber-technology/random saves the day Deux Ex Machina.

Countless (Actually, several bald or balding and toupee wearing) captains aboard the vessel of Enterprise comes to mind.

And my favorite Sci-Fi (Gundams) are guilty of this as well. Char's Counterattack has one Mobile Suit (nu Gundam) magically pushing away a big freaking piece of asteroid (Axis). Or a mobile suit (giant robot) that absorbs souls of the fallen comrades and enemies alike and using it as weapons. Etc. Etc. Etc.

You know, the technobabble is the most laziest and easiest Deus Ex Machina. And fits the meaning quite well, might I add.

Damage commented on Strange Japanese… Thing… Does… Something In the Gundam cartoons, Haro is basically the mascot robot that hangs around the hero. Kinda like C3PO and R2D2, but rolly-pollier and much more squeakied voice than either of the two.

As for the real life Haro, well, they're toys, like the cartoon counterpart. Except it's less functional. By the end of the one of the series the Haro was part of, it could walk, talk, fly, project holograms, open its yap to reveal a fully functional PC, and generally worked as a Deus Ex Machina as needed.

And you ask me how I know this? If my icon ain't a damn giveaway, I don't know what is.

Damage commented on CD/DVD Spindle Cable Organizer Cakeboxes (at least lids) make for best change jar (wide mouth), pen holders, or cable holders.

I hold the used spindles for burnt CD-Rs that needs to be cataloged (good practice to always label your burnt discs ASAP unless you know you're going to toss them), and consolidate the medias. The used spindles also work well for holding media that needs to be ripped. In these cases it should be used as nothing more than temporary workspace--this is better than strewing CDs, DVDs, and associated jewel cases all over your desk.

Get enough of those, and you can play real life towers of Hanoi with useless discs.
