FrancesTheMute commented on Samsung U940 Glyde Officially Glides Onto Verizon Nice of illpacin0 to spam all Glyde threads with his drivel. I've had this phone since last friday (was able to preorder by calling VZW) and it's not that bad. The phone itself is very nice, the slider mechanism is top notch. Yes, the touchscreen is somewhat buggy (basically both things illpacin0 says that are bad are the same thing) sometimes it doesn't seem to register that you pressed the screen or the next button pushes instead. This is easily fixed with a firmware update and since this will be a popular phone, i'm sure it will be fixed shortly after it's released, since everyone will be having the same issue. The slide out QWERTY is very nice, good response, easy to type on. call quality is very good as well, my parents commented that they could hear me better than on my old phone (RAZR V3m) web browser is OK, but then again if you are buying a phone like this to do heavy web surfing you are stupid...get an iphone or wimmo smart phone. It is an HTML browser, it does render pages pretty well, it's pretty fast from what I've seen so far. I did a speed test on DSLreports.com and got an average speed of about 500k/s so the EVDO is pretty fast (it's not REV A) Overall, it's a nice phone, good competitor to the Voyager.

FrancesTheMute commented on Samsung U940 Glyde Accessories Show Up on Verizon's Site @illpacin0: it's not that bad. I've had it since friday and it's a very nice phone. The touch screen issue could easily be fixed with a firmware update, and I'm sure it will once it's available to the masses and more reports of the issue come in

FrancesTheMute commented on Comcast Considering 250GB Monthly Data Caps, Disconnecting Repeat Pirates @M.A.S.: funny commercials, but it's actually an ad for DirecTV, not AT&T

@markarian: I wouldn't say that Seattle is a long ways off from fiber, you guys are literally surrounded by fiber: Lynnwood, Everett, Redmond and Bellevue all have Fios. From what I've seen, the major cities don't have Fios, but the surrounding suburbs do.

FrancesTheMute commented on Why Isn't Anyone Defecting from iTunes to Amazon's MP3 Store? Actually, the Amazon downloader isn't that bad. FrancesTheMute commented on DARPA Urban Challenge Cars Invading Pentagon Parking Lot The jeep in the video is parked at a house near where I live. I've seen it sitting there for a while, and I always thought it kinda looked like something they would use in the DARPA challenge. Now that I see this video, i realize it's the same vehicle.
