I'm no big fan of Domino's, but I smell a thin-crust pizza in my future tonight just so I can try this script out.

Gotta admit that Domino's isn't my favorite pizza. Any chance of seeing a script like this for Papa John's? Or even Pizza Hut? I'd ask for Round Table first, but they don't even do online ordering...

HeartBurnKid commented on Round 34: Sony vs Ticketmaster I hate Ticketmaster and all, but the worst they've ever done is nickel-and-dimed people to death on event tickets. They suck hard, but not as much as Sony and their rootkits. At least Ticketmaster never gave virus-writers a back door.

HeartBurnKid commented on Blocked Enzyme Curbs Appetite, Promotes Weight Loss, Probably Causes Cancer or Something @Git Em SteveDave: @Walter: Smug much?

While, on a platonic level, it is as simple as "eat less and exercise", in practice, it does require a lot of hard work and dedication to lose weight. Mainly because most fat people don't even realize that they're eating too much. For me, I "listened to my body" as every hack on the internet tells me to do, and I ended up at 300 pounds. My body, quite simply, doesn't know what's good for it. So now, I restrict myself to 1700 calories a day (this was after experimenting a bit and finding my average daily burn, which is somewhere between 2200 and 2500), I track what I eat using spreadsheets, and I'm gradually ramping up on exercise. So far it's working; I'm down to 260 since starting in the last week of January. But it's not easy (though it's a hell of a lot easier than the first few days, when I was hungry, tired, and sick all the time). It's a big chore that most people don't have to deal with, because their body actually tells them when it's satisfied.

It's easy to sit here and tell people, "Stop stuffing your face, lardass!" It's considerably harder to put into practice. And that's why people are always looking for the quick fix; because people like you make it sound like it should be easy. So, when they try things the hard way, and don't get immediate drastic results, they assume they're doing something wrong.

In short, you're hurting people. Stop.

HeartBurnKid commented on Unlocked iPhones Putting Gadget Activation Company Out of Business @matto: I have the GOD GIVEN RIGHT to do whatever I want with my hardware after I buy it. Last I checked, Apple doesn't show a license agreement before they take your credit card info (hell, maybe they do now, I don't know, I haven't actually bought an iPhone yet), so any "implied" agreement they might have by virtue of taking your money isn't worth the paper it isn't written on.

HeartBurnKid commented on Behind the Xbox 360 Hard Drive's Insane Price @Sam_Zebian: My Thinkpad has a screw-on latch. Open that up, and you can see the hard drive, enclosed in a (probably $1) plastic-and-very-thin-aluminum harness. It can be easily pulled out and replaced with another drive.

So, what stops Microsoft from doing something similar, and providing an inexpensive harness that doesn't interfere with the industry-standard connections, while still allowing the drive to be easily removable?

Greed.

HeartBurnKid commented on Italy's iPhone to Have Two Carriers: The End of Exclusivity? @steinah6: Exclusivity with AT&T is only in the US. Most other countries have their own exclusive carriers. What makes this story unique is that there are two Italian carriers, each of which claim to be offering the iPhone shortly. So in Italy it's not exclusive.

HeartBurnKid commented on Unlocked iPhones Putting Gadget Activation Company Out of Business @ThePeacemaker02: Because Apple's greedy, and they get a kickback from each and every AT&T contract. Reportedly, 75% of their income from each iPhone is from the contract, not the sale itself.

So there's the thing. Apple may sell more iPhones if they're unlocked, but they'd have to sell 4x as many in order to make it worth their while.

HeartBurnKid commented on Who Kicks More Ass: Batman or Iron Man? Basically, it all depends on how long the fight goes. In the beginning, Iron Man has the overwhelming advantage, so if he can and will end it early, he wins. But the longer the fight goes, the longer Batman has to realize that he can hack Jarvis, sneak into Stark's mansion and catch him armorless, or use an EMP to short out his electromagnet. At that point, Batman wins.
