<![CDATA[Jraktal commented on Why Android Is Bad for Business]]> it is simple, Google does not exist in a vacuum, so it begs to question why did they not learn from other enterprise releases?

as for Apple and the Iphone they are a minority in the PC business however they had a massive presence in multimedia with the Ipod and catered to them first and had a hit. with their second release they included some enterprise support and will increase their base.

Blackberry having the lions share of enterprise business only have market share to lose, however they have created a consumer level device and have added multimedia features that are not as rich as the Iphone however do better than most consumer level phones.

Google is trying to emulate Microsoft in this release, create the OS and plant the seed to see what blossoms.

To whom are they making the phone for!
consumers?
Business types?
very small (but important) linux based IT based group?

while it is understandable that google is not in the business of supporting Microsoft based apps. but no matter what linux/unix admins say, the lions share is Exchange based email delivery for enterprise based clients. support them and they will come.

all units have pro's and con's regardless of what it runs (OS) and what are the hardware specs.

buy the tool you need.

the real questions here is why does the author have such a hate-on for the obese patron?

Loved that show

and WTF wait for the inquiry to be over before throwing back the blame on the pilot, shit happens and he did what he could, as for the pedestrian I saw a part of a video that showed the helicopter coming down, this was no rock falling from the sky with no reaction time, the helicopter was struggling to keep in the air and came down hard, if someone can catch it on a video camera, you can get the fuck outta the way, it called personal responsibility for your own personal space , and he had no awareness. I guess you can chalk it up to this "he trusted his environment too much"

]]>
<![CDATA[Jraktal commented on Is Iron Man the Best Superhero Movie Ever?]]> @alukard: man you beat me to the punch.

this is what I had to say

Ang Lee's Hulk 6 outa 10 (honestly terrible choice of Villain and the story, ugh needs a re-write)

Batman 1 7 outa 10 (was a 10-10 in its day, lost it appeal when the franchise turned into dog vomit)

X-Men series 8 outa 10 ( good Casting, good stories, but they crammed 30 years of comic history down our throats putting the x-men franchise to bed, before its time)

Superman 1 7 outa 10 (Again a great film in its day, but Margot Kidder! as Lois Lane, I think of Throat Cancer when I see her and for gods sake what is with the whole Real estate Lex Luthor as a Villain shtick)

Superman Returns 8 outa 10 ( great re-envisioning of the franchise, great CGI and imagery, the story could use work, not enough action, again saving us from Mad Real estate moguls, some one really hates Donald Trump)

BatMan Begins 9 outa 10 (great movie, out did the original)

Mystery Men 7 outa 10 ( enjoyable but apeared to be more of a spoof of the genre, as posted earlier ALT-HERO GENRE)

HELLBOY 7 outa 10 ( enjoyable still a little campy)

Spiderman series (like the Star Wars Franchise, the second film outshines the first and the third lowers the quality of the first 2)

FF4 6 on 10 (poor casting, poor story, bad acting)

DareDevil and Electra 1 outa 10 ( my god what were they thinking)

@Thoth74:

and to Thoth74 about SLJ casting as Col. Nick Fury try reading the comics, they cast him long as the role in recent years and I think it is fan-fucking-tastic. and as for the story an extra 10-15 minutes of him kicking ass in the Middle-East destroying his weapons would have sufficed waiting for IM2 for IronMonger would have never happend as the film would have been a tad boring watching IM only have Al-queada types to beat on)

]]>
<![CDATA[Jraktal commented on Is Iron Man the Best Superhero Movie Ever?]]> @Sanfam:

Listen Mystery Men was a good film and I like it (I watched it again this weekend)

however while a comic book movie it is a different genre of film, more of a alternative hero style comic, not at all like the Marvel and DC style universe.

come on! the "Spleen" thats funny but its no Iron Man.

as for those who did not like IM cause it did not have enough action, or good enough story.

I believe one of my "cow"orkers commented that "Transformers" had better action, I reminded her that
Transformers was great CGI and Megan Fox, and thats it.

and for a story......its a comic book on screen not "Pride and Prejudice" the story was great....for a comic book, at least Tony did not get all EMO on our asses a la SM3.

if you did not like it go home and watch tango and cash or the Bridges of Madison county and do not bother us with the trivial comments about RDj former habits

<![CDATA[Jraktal commented on Marvel Already Dates Iron Man 2]]> @martini1179:

"Does anyone else think that making a Captain American movie is semi-inappropriate in this day and age? Cap is too divisive, too nationalistic to do well outside of America, and also out of touch with who the U.S. is as a nation today. WWII was a LONG time ago!"

no! no one else thinks its divisive, or to nationalistic, and he represents a way of life not just the nation and I am not even American. I think Cap is a great story to show.

and "WWII was a LONG time ago" this is why WE MUST NEVER FORGET, you lefties will always try to wipe out what was done but the fact is our civilization is at a crossroads, wake up!

Iron Man is an "A-" film, great character development, CGI that you could not tell was CGI, and used too perfection, maybe 15 minutes longer and all action would have been better.

<![CDATA[Jraktal commented on NBC Wants iTunes to Block Pirated Content from iPods]]> All they are doing is denying their content from legitimate consumers.

The rest of us use the 1001 other ways of getting the content we want on the devices we use. if they were to lock it (They do), others will find a way to unlock it, so ultimately the consumers win.

and this is bullshit anyways, if we are a consumer driven market then why the hell are we hampered in the ways we currently are, consumers all accross the world are saying fuck off RIAA, MPAA, NBC, CBS etc etc and demanding access to this content for years they are too slow to keep up with then technology and consumers needs.

<![CDATA[Jraktal commented on Apple Sued for iMac Display Deception, Steve Jobs Suspected Closet Megatron]]> here is a fact (excerpt from about.com)

8-Bit vs. 6-Bit

Now color depth was previous referred to by the total number of colors that the screen can render, but when referring to LCD panels the number of levels that each color can render is used instead. This can make things difficult to understand, but to demonstrate, we will look at the mathematics of it. For example, 24-bit or true color is comprised of three colors each with 8-bits of color. Mathematically, this is represented as:

2^8 x 2^8 x 2^8 = 256 x 256 x 256 = 16,777,216
High-speed LCD monitors typically reduce the number of bits for each color to 6 instead of the standard 8. This 6-bit color will generate far fewer colors than 8-bit as we see when we do the math:

2^6 x 2^6 x 2^6 = 64 x 64 x 64 = 262,144
This is far fewer than the true color display such that it would be noticeable to the human eye. To get around this problem, the manufacturers employ a technique referred to as dithering. This is an effect where nearby pixels use slightly varying shades or color that trick the human eye into perceiving the desired color even though it isn't truly that color. A color newspaper photo is a good way to see this effect in practice. (In print the effect is called half-tones.) By using this technique, the manufacturers claim to achieve a color depth close to that of the true color displays.

while the human eye may not be able to perceive this difference, stating that millions of color on all models is in fact false. nuf said!

<![CDATA[Jraktal commented on Question of the Day: Is Blu-Ray a Placeholder Format?]]> I love this

[gizmodo.com]

The ISPS will rape you both ways till sunday when you download

you buy movie online and pay $$$
you pay for monthly fee to use high speed internet $$$
you pay to use more bandwidth than the ISP allows as they set it for just enough for grandma $$$
you buy a storage drive to hold your collection $$$

you slit your wrists after some crack addict steals your player for blow and lose your entire movie collection of pr0n. $$$ (medical bills)

you pay for increased insurance rates and suffer damnable embarasment making the claim. $$$

net result: Techies download movies and guess what do not pay (torrents and usenet)

John Q public needs shiny metal boxes.

in the end the whole idea/business model of ownership needs to be rewritten.

ergo pay a monthly fee and have access to the entire collection on demand, it is the only way it would work.

]]>
<![CDATA[Jraktal commented on Question of the Day: Is Blu-Ray a Placeholder Format?]]> Here is the issue, Downloading contact requires several things in place

1) the patron has to have a large enough connection @ home to download the content.
2) the provider has to be able to supply the bandwidth and not penalize the client for using it (i.e. 20GB limit for downloads)
3) what about purchases? this model is fine for rentals (why bother on demand satisfies this need) but if I want to buy the movie I'll have an electronic file... so there is no tangible connection to the product, no real satisfaction, no cover art, no booklet. and what happens if I lose the file (Hardware failure) do they provide me with a new file, and why could there not be a database with all my purchases and I have them forever? (cause they are money grubbing @ssho1es, and your charge you per download thats why?)

to many ifs, whynots, and buts for my liking, give me a physical disc for my money thanks!
