A buddy pass is the last bit of carrot with which the once glorious travel industry can lure new suckers - ooops - employees.

(It's almost always standby (there used to be ID50 positive space passes on some carriers) you get them to pass out to friends and family. My carrier used to allow you to work "volunteer" hours and get passes in exchange. They are a footnote in travel history.

MickeyMoo commented on Verizon Doesn't Care That Someone Hijacked Your Account While You Were Serving Overseas screw the EECB and small claims - go directly to the press. Like it or not - we are a country at war and local TV LOVE LOVE LOVES filler stories especially if they involve some injustice being done to a member of the armed services. I'd bet that you'd get it resolved the minute someone high up at Verizon sees the story (and likely with a profuse apology)

It would be trivial to modify menus to indicate the important nutritional content but obviously industry spokesweasels are against it since it would cut into sales.

MickeyMoo commented on Buy.com Doesn't Honor Rebates Like Newegg @shenanigrams:
Lets modify your example: Imagine you set your friend up on a date with another (Buy.com offering a product for sale on their website) and one of your friends slaps the other (rebate denied due to bankruptcy) you aren't at fault unless you knew that the slapper had a prior history of slapping around other blind dates (Buy.com is aware that a business partner is having financial issues - perhaps not paying invoices or is impossible to reach or you have many other reports of unpaid rebates) yet in order to offload that friend (dump your inventory while you can) you tell the potential datee that dater is a great person and they're a match made in heaven (continue to advertise the product for sale quoting the after rebate cost when you have a pretty good idea that the rebate will never be paid)
