<![CDATA[iomatic commented on iPhone Home Activation Is Coming, Needs Store Visit, And No 32GB iPhone Says Rumor]]> I activated my iPhone at home, ordered as an upgrade/replacement for my Curve 8310 through the FAN account.

I then had to call a few times to switch it back to family plan, activate data and SMS. A bit of a pain.

And when we do (When we do)
What's it all 4 (What's it all 4)
U better live now
Before the grim reaper come knocking on your door

Tell me, are we gonna let de-elevator bring us down
Oh, no let's go!

Let's go crazy
Let's get nuts
Look 4 the purple banana
'Til they put us in the truck, let's go!

<![CDATA[iomatic commented on iPhone 3G Fully Works with Pay-as-You-Go SIM Cards]]> So, obviating the contract/no contract questions:

If I have and want to keep the existing plan, can I simply pop in a PAYG SIM that's say prepaid a few bucks (is that how it even works?) and use this as an internationally-roaming AT&T phone? (I mean, I realize it's probably cheaper to use a local SIM or local phone, but it would be nice just to carry your iPhone while traveling.)

Thoughts?

Sorry for the noob questions.

<![CDATA[iomatic commented on Review Addendum: Using Amazon Kindle on Vacation]]> I love the ditching-the-weight aspect of physical books. I've learned over the years to really pare down to essentials: do you really need that electric nose hair trimmer, or could you do without for a week (unless you do have noise-hair growth issues)?

There are extremes; I found ultralight gear from REI, and while interesting in concept, the microsized shaver's extra few ounces of lightness negated any shaving comfort or benefits. The company's tie-in with prisons should've clued me in, but alas.

All good points, Brian, but sometimes you can just do without, right?

<![CDATA[iomatic commented on Cranky Windows Guy: Apple's iPhone Bugs Stopped Me From Switching to a Mac]]> DEC user here. I had the SAME experience; I mean, what's with the ridiculous little pictures? Where's the keyboard? All this computer is so far is a blank piece of glass until I utilize some ridiculous tapping of the hard buttons...

"Slide to unlock?" I don't understand. After brushing my knuckle across the screen (why is it all colorful-- is there a tech support number to fix this?-- and what happened to my nice amber TTY screen???), there are those silly little pictures.
