It was no doubt shocking when I came out swinging against a personal hero in Gizmodo Celebrates the Fathers of Invention on Presidents' Day, but the realities of prohibition are harsh. If a well-intentioned incandescent ban does come to pass, look for stories about the real people hurt by it. And please get back to me when that happens... or when you change your mind about the spectacles of turbulence and contention called Democracy.

Just in case you don't check back on the thread, here's my reply: @johnnyabnormal: "Needed to be said?" Just what does that mean? Anyone who DARES to disagree, or question, or challenge the climate change dogma "needs" to be shouted down? Piss off. That's not how either science or the internet work. Then, I added: @johnnyabnormal:Not much, ignoring the above, to dispute in your post, except one: “It is a proven fact that the average planetary temperature is absolutely correlated to the CO2 level in the atmosphere. Hundreds of thousands of years of ice core samples do not lie regarding this overwhelming evidence.” See above, that evidence is interpreted differently by different camps within the scientific community. It’s fine to believe one side over the other, but calling it a proven fact is wrong. Oh, and cutting back may make you feel good, but it doesn’t actually solve anything, you know. It’s like rationing, it may prolong the supply, but does nothing to combat the shortage. Technology is the cure, not conservation.

The cash the RIAA and MPAA is hitting people up for is so wildly out of proportion to reality, Perhaps the RIAA should just cut a deal with a columbian drug cartel and push crack instead of music - at least you can't get crack through a T1 line. Not yet.

No problem. It got kind of crazy... But fun at the same time!

Perhaps P2P networks aren't as anonymous as we like to think, regardless of distributed packets or even encryption. The RIAA and MPAA have a lot of cash, and seem to know exactly where to throw it to get results. A little paranoia goes a long way...

Johnny... No dice on the legal angle to sue the RIAA fro monitoring P2P user OSes. My Bro says it wouldn't work, and as long as the monitoring is backed by a subpeona - regardless of whether the subpeona is issued before or after the monitoring. Tamoko
