<![CDATA[Comments from king_of_fools]]> <![CDATA[Comments from king_of_fools]]> <![CDATA[king_of_fools commented on American Airlines Caves In to Religious Groups' Pressure, Filters In-Flight Porn]]> This was not a religion vs non-religion type of an issue, its a decency issue. These "religious groups" are family oriented groups who are religious but whose focus is the health and well being of the family unit.

This includes keeping people clear from situations where say some perv is checking out porn on the plain next to them and their kids. Its a reasonable request to see to it that people aren't being all kinds of pervish next to them on the plane, and its a weak weak attempt at discrediting them to call them a "religious group" knowing this kind of reference will encourage a certain type of reaction when they could just as easily called them by name or stated the kind of religious group they are. Focus on the Family was one of the main groups, and it should have been said up front that it wasn't an attempt to keep non-religious people down, but to maintain a reasonable environment in a closed area of public transportation.

<![CDATA[king_of_fools commented on Blu-ray Report Card Calls Out Cheap and Lazy Movie Studios]]> This is only speculation but I bet this wouldn't have happened with HD DVD ... their set up was better and it would have made it easier for the studios and the consumers to get the most out of the features.

<![CDATA[king_of_fools commented on Walmart Unwittingly Sells iPod Nano Knockoff as Actual iPod]]> I wonder if its simply a matter of the same factory that builds apples ipod also builds cheap knock offs for other companies and accidentally confused them in the packaging?

Aside from the fact that anyone with their eyes open should have seen the fact that this was a different player when they were stalking the shelves; Walmart really has nothing to do with this, they probably opened up a case and it was packed in their with the other real ones.

<![CDATA[king_of_fools commented on Furutech Thinks You are Stupid Enough to Buy an $1800 Power Cable]]> I think its so funny when companies sell cables like this depending on the stupidity of the buyers to make them money (like that $1000 iphone app). It might transmit the power or the audio signal as flawlessly as possible for a cable to do so, but it wont make it any better for the simple reason that the quality will only be as good as the cheapest cables in the line of the power (or with sound, the flow of the audio signal through the cables).

Pop open any electronic device or sound system and take a look at the wires and solder ... if you can find more then 10 bucks worth of wires inside your device then you're a lucky bugger. Even high end electronics are all made in factories where the solder and wiring are bought in mass quantities and they are spending a few cents per unit to wire them up, with a dab of solder to hold it in place whose price cant even be properly reflected in the building cost of the item.

So yeah those cables might be absolutely perfect, but they wont do a damn thing about improving quality.

<![CDATA[king_of_fools commented on In Spite of Downloadable Movies, I Still Choose Blu-ray]]> I myself don't have an HDTV yet or HD service of any kind, but I have friends that do, and we watch sporting events etc in full HD ... I've got to believe that the programming could be transmitted in much the same way if you have the right connection. DSL and maybe even some Cable may fall short but satellite and FIOS should, have the bandwidth to make it possible.

I remember reading about some companies that want to put boxes in the user end similar to the DVRs that people have now, with that kind of set up you could start watching it right away as it downloaded the rest of the program to your HDD it, and the DRM is an issue, but its there, and I doubt its going away. I think what we should look for is a single DRM type make the DRM Nazis fight it out like the HD formats did ... then in the end all of our devices (portable media players, home theater setups, computers etc) will all be able to run the movies we rent or purchase and we wont have to worry about compatibility issues or DRM hurdles.

<![CDATA[king_of_fools commented on Religious Group Now Protesting Online Porn in the Sky While God Smiles Suspiciously]]> Jesus Diaz is a bit of an ass for posting this in the way he did; its ok to have a differing opinion but to attack someone else because they have a different opinion than you, and put them down like this is just asinine ... as if families traveling together really want to run across and deal with the situation where they have some retard (lets say Jesus Diaz for example) looking up porn for enjoyment or even for work (gawker does have a porn based sister site). Focus on the Family simply seeks to protect people from having to be in these situations and its really not that much to ask.

<![CDATA[king_of_fools commented on Doctors Using Pig Powder to Regrow a Soldier's Finger]]> I heard about this stuff before, what i was told that it did was not to "awaken" some dormant growth ability, but actually it keeps the body from healing up. stops the scabbing. The scabbing is what keeps any further regeneration from happening and by keeping it from closing off the wound it allows it time to naturally regenerate (i'm guessing through mitosis, but thats just a guess i really don't know much about this stuff.)
