Gizmodo Revamps RSS Feeds to Make More Money

A couple of weeks ago we started routing our feeds through FeedBurner, since they have the ability to give us some actual stats on the RSS readership. The other reason is so we can start selling ads through the RSS, and I thought I'd quickly explain our new policy, because I think it's pretty fair.

I fought for full RSS feeds (fought! or asked!) when I took over Gizmodo, because full RSS is a good thing, even if we were potentially losing some front page hits from the feed readers. Our new system still offers full stories on RSS, if you'll accept ads (I think it's currently one ad every 5 posts), or ad-free excerpted content. We'll always disclaim the ads as such, just like we do now, but if you see anything that gets your hackles up, let us know. We're fine with criticism.
