Four iPhones Per Person at Apple Stores

The two-iPhones-per-person rule instituted for people who lined up on launch day? Out the window. You can now buy four iPhones in the SF store, and possibly even more depending on how your local Apple store operates. Go nuts, but don't expect much for them if you're eBaying.

  • Does this mean sales have been disappointing?

  • Judging by the looks of Apple's stock, in comparison to Microsoft's $28 stock, I would say nothing is disapointing at Apple. Each day a new Apple store opens, another IPod gets sold, people go in buy computers, and now IPhones. Don't think Apple will have trouble selling anything. At least here in California, the Apple stores are always crowded.

  • @Dark13
    Apple market value ~$105 Billion
    Microsoft market value ~$281 Billion

Stock price is meaningless w/o taking into account the number of outstanding shares.

  • Four? I just wanted one...but I couldn't get one here in CA...I checked Apple's website last night after 9PM and it said the Brea store would have some but when I showed up there really early this morning (I expected a line) there was no line...but there were no fricken iPhones either... :(

NOTE TO APPLE: "CHECK AVAILABILITY" WEBSITE NOT WORKING PROPERLY!

  • you could have just stopped with stock price is meaningless.

i own apple stock right now and i'm hoping to get out soon because it's just so incredibly overvalued despite how great of a company it is and this new revenue stream.

  • yeah if the net boom taught us anything, its that stock value has NOTHING to do with market value or net profitability of a company.
But yeah, only a 4 phone limit? What are the iphones ispoiling on the ishelves?
Icant iwait until the iphone shuffle comes out. It will just randomly dail people.

  • I'm still laughing at that woman who tried to buy out the AT&T store with thousands of dollars in cash only to find out that she could only get one.

  • @ GREYSCALE: I certainly hope so. The phone is crippled to the detriment of the consumer. It deserves to fail.

    @ CALAVERASGRANDES: Hahahaha.

Four iPhones? Who the hell is going to buy four iPhones? Why would you even say something like that? It sounds like those stupid "Collectible" coins. "Strict limit of five per caller."

  • Jeezz!!!!

Stop it with the iPhone posts already! OK, I know that the damn thing just went on sale on Friday, but it's time to move on.... There's got to be some other tech out there...right?

What's your 401K like working for Steve Jobs? Must be sweet! ;-)

  • Ya'll are just mad that they planned ahead enough to not run out.

  • i hope someone bought 4 hoping to sell them on ebay and making some big profit and then realize he's an ass.

  • It might be worth noting that the SF stores (Union Square and Stonestown) are the only stores in all of California that have any iPhones....

I'm glad they had enough phones to meet demand, but I don't take it to mean that they haven't sold truckloads of them.

  • Good reaction to realizing they sold 1/6 as many as they had hoped. Jobs said 3 million at launch I believe, and they've sold 500,000 so far, with many of those being to people trying to make a quick buck on Ebay. Every store within 100 miles of me has one in stock.

  • @pharmboy: +1, it's time to move on guys. Hit us up with an update when the actually fix all the missing features with the phantom software "updates". I'm still waiting for my Apple TV to play music videos in a playlist or with shuffle. Currently I'm pissed about that. No way to shuffle and watch music videos. That turned me off from the iPhone, because simple, logical, and "should be" seems to be missing for no reason sometimes.

  • @targatop: First, as reported here on Gizmodo, the 3 million count was a rumor and appears to still be unconfirmed. Second, even if they did stock 3 mil at launch, no one ever claimed they'd sell 3 mil at launch. Contrary to uneducated belief, having stock to sell to eager customers *after* the first day is good business.

  • okay

  • can someone please explain to me why someone would buy a phone for $1000 on ebay that is readily available at most at&t and apple stores for $500-$600?? no really i dont get why people are doing that its not like you can use it outside the US so really whats the point?
