AT&T LG Prada Spy Shots

This isn't the KE850 LG Prada that we played with before, but a new LG CU920 Prada version that's heading to AT&T—which means there will be two touchphones battling it out on one network. Our source tells us that it's very light, but comes with an antenna (!) that's easy to snap off. It's supposedly 3G, but took a long while to load up Gizmodo (probably because of our huge images). It's got zooming like the iPhone when browsing, but takes a couple steps instead of the iPhone's one. Check out the non-fuzzy pics in our gallery after the jump.

  • why oh why can't Verizon step up and ANSWER AT&T's onslaught of delicious devices... Yeah we've all heard the "It's the network" pitch... but seriously how much fun is it to drive on the Autobahn in a Ford Taurus...

    Sheesh...

  • The interface can use some work. Looks chunky, ugly windows like icons. Definitely not an iPhone but more like the poser friend that tries so hard to look the part but obviously not as cool.

  • Nice phone. Cloud use a chrome bezel, though.

  • @Spyrojoe: Could, that is.

  • @RemmingtonShowdown: Seriously. I'm so pissed at Verizon at this point, especially after their officially-released update bricked my non-modified Treo 700w. Can we get a decent smartphone please? PLEASE?

    Sucks. The End.

  • This is different from the European model, that's b+w this is color, my friend has one and it feels great in the hand just like a Chanel Compact, and it's very light...

  • I want to like this so much more than the iPhone... but it's just so hard. Any word on pricing? Ill take it at the sub $150.00 mark.

  • maybe the evil empire wants a touch phone they can subsidize. apple can't be too thrilled with that.

  • Hum... I wear Prada and have the EU Prada Phone... and this ugly thing is no Prada!...

As for your website having "huge images"... Stop compensating...

  • Only a non-Apple company would be stupid enough to put a 12-key keyboard on a touch screen.

Seriously, do these guys have monkeys on their UI design and usability teams?

  • nice... I like the all black exterior... What is the screen rez?

  • Where do I begin?

It's obviously not the Prada phone, but the ATT version OF the Prada phone and it's more recognizable as the Prada than the KE850.

No one is SAYING it's an iPhone because people interested in this phone don't CARE about the iPhone, otherwise they would have bought one.

The comments about Verizon's lack of competitiveness are the most comment-worthy, and actually bring up a good point. They probably should have made it CDMA instead of taking almost a year to keep it GSM but add 3G.

This phone, if it is anything like the Prada--the article suggests it's better, will be an excellent phone, can do everything including email, photos and video, and...

oh yeah... doesn't have to be hacked or bricked to add 3rd party functionality.

  • ...oh and yeah...will have a less refined interface and hardly any of the easy upgradability of the iPhone. Plus it will have LG build quality...

I anticipate this being cheaper than the iPhone.

    Whatever.

  • I always said, along with everyone else, that it was AT&T who was calling the shots on the iPhone, that is, between themselves and Apple. In other words, Apple was dancing to AT&T's tune since two other carriers turned down carrying the iPhone before AT&T did the deal. That's why the iPhone suffers from AT&T's draconian terms if one wants the iPhone.

Many Apple fanboys said no way, all the carriers wanted to carry the iPhone and AT&T was begging Apple to stock it.

Well, I think this competing phone that is similar in concept to the iPhone, both carried by AT&T shows that AT&T is calling the shots. I mean, no way Apple is happy about this phone coming out [but they can't do anything about it].

I am not a fan of touchscreen phones. As to other iPhone flaws, I wonder if this one will have a removable battery. :)

  • Apple doesn't allow AT&T to subsidize the cost, so Apple makes all the profits from the phone. I agree with the commenter above that said AT&T wants a touchscreen phone they can subsidize.

Personally, I would love to have an iPhone, but my poor budget (and wife) won't allow me to spend the kind of money required. This phone looks quite good, but I'm going to reserve judgement until I can actually touch and use it.

Worse comes to worse...I piss my wife off and buy the iPhone anyway...we have a new couch that may need to be broken in...
