BeoVision 10 Would Be Perfect for My Bachelor Pad
I just got my new apartment. A studio. Veehee cute, but small. That's why the BeoVision 10 has my name all over it. I mean, if my name was Bang & Olufsen. Or if I had a spare $8,700. More » -

Bang & Olufsen BeoTime Alarm Clock Caters to Flute Enthusiasts, the Rich

Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 5 is a Reasonable Media Controller (For Your Megayacht)
When Bang & Olufsen, maker of very expensive things that use electricity, let slip a photo of their upcoming BeoSound 5 home media controller, I saw a lot of potential. The interface looked nice, the hardware classy, and the screen crisp — in other words, if this thing connected with network music shares and played nice with a variety of home A/V equipment, it could be a winner. Well, we've got our hands on the official announcement, and it looks like we might have been a little optimistic. More » -

Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 5 Home Media Controller Spotted, Blurrily
Bang & Olufsen, maker of very expensive things that use electricity, looks like they might be onto something with their BeoSound 5. With album art and a relatively complex menu displayed on the screen, it would appear that the BeoSound 5 will be a pretty comprehensive (and of course, stylish) control interface for your home media system. Whether it'll play nice with your network shares and iTunes libraries or be locked down to prohibitively expensive B&O gear is a different story, but if you're considering kit like this you probably don't really mind either way. Bang & Olufsen's BeoVision HDTV Self-Calibrates With Its Robotic Appendage
Tuning your television is something only videophiles and Gizmodo readers do (seriously, normal people don't care enough to spend a few hours on this), but Bang & Olufsen's BeoVision 4 might change that practice. The 1080p TV has a built-in robotic arm with a camera on the end that swings down in front of the display in order to test the picture. More » -

Bang & Olufsen Serenata Hands-On Video
Zara over at Shiny Shiny got her hands on the Bang & Olufsen/Samsung Serenata phone, which isn't just a phone, it's a "personal music system." Even after watching the video it's unclear how the music UI capabilities outclass say, the iPhone, but the external speakers seem like they sound pretty great—it even has bass. Not like Enya even has any bass in any of her songs. We'll see if we can get a closeup video of the UI for you. [Shiny Shiny] -

Samsung, Bang & Olufsen Announce Serenata Music Phone
Bang & Olufsen and Samsung made their new Serenata music phone official today, as promised, sporting the distinctive look and sure-to-be ludicrous pricing that B&O is known for. Loaded with 4GB of flash memory, the Serenata has a built-in speaker that's designed to pump out your jams with no headphones necessary. I'd say don't use this on the subway, but anyone who can afford a B&O phone doesn't use public transportation. More » -

Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 6 is iTunes Compatible
We covered the Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 6 back in July, but this overpriced player does have one thing that possibly makes the $700 worthwhile. It's a plug-in that allows the BeoPlayer 6 to work with iTunes, something that, well, iPod nanos (which are 1/5 the price and 2x the memory) can do already. But it does have OGG support, if you're really keen on using a format that no major download store supports. [Uber Gizmo] -

Samsung's Bang & Olufsen Phone Coming in 17 Days
Samsung and Bang & Olufssen have just thrown up a teaser site for their Serenata phone, which comes at us in just 17 days. What the phone has internally or even what it looks like is still a mystery on the site, but putting two and two together from earlier leaks you get a phone with 4GB flash memory, MPEG-4 video, 240x240 display, HSDPA and UMTS 3G, and also an iPod-esque scroll wheel. If the past leaks are correct, this is what the phone will look like—an electric razor. [Serenata via Electronista] -

Samsung WEP 420 Bluetooth Headset is B&O-Designed, Looks Square
Just testing. I know it's oblong, but it's Monday morning and I want to see if you've all recovered from St. Patrick's Day. Anyway, enough about my weekend, here's the week's first gizmo. Samsung has teamed up with Danish designmeisters Bang & Olufsen to create their new Bluetooth headset, the WEP 420. Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 9: $10K For a Set of Speakers?
Surely I'm not the only one who would balk at paying nearly $10,000 for speakers, no matter how high-end they are. Yet, Bang & Olufsen's BeoLab 9 speakers do just that (well, $9,900) and all they have to show for it is "acoustic lens technology" and "adaptive bass linerisation," which is supposed to reduce two common side effects from playing music loudly: distortion and actual damage to the speaker. While seated, the speakers are ear level but they look to be balanced so precariously that a 2-year-old would have little to no trouble knocking the whole thing over. The BeoLab 9 can simply be used as stereo speakers (which would be overkill) or as part of a full home theater audio system, which is only slightly less insane. More » -

B&O Discovers Bluetooth
If you still have some dough left over after splurging on the Serene, B&O will soon be offering an update to the Earset 1, the aptly named Earset 2. It's their first Bluetooth headset (welcome to 2006, guys) and it uses two omnidirectional mics to transmit better quality sound than your run-of-the-mill wireless headset. One thing we do like about the unit, it doesn't appear to have that flashing blue "mug-me" light that most Bluetooth headsets have. But light or no light, at $200 dollars, this is one headset we'll skip. More » -

Bang & Olufsen Intros HDR 2 Hard Disk Recorder, Records in Living Color
Bang & Olufsen, the dumb blonde of the consumer electronics industry, rolled out the HDR 2, a hard disk video recorder that amounts to a PVR that stores 60 hours of standard definition video. The BeoSound 4 Audio System from Bang & Olufsen
Bang & Olufsen will launch its previously revealed BeoSound 4, a compact audio system that integrates an SD card slot into the mix. As a result, users are able to record CD music or radio to an SD card, which makes it easy to share music amongst friends (don't tell the RIAA) or to transfer to other Bang & Olufsen sound systems, such as the portable BeoSound 3. Being from Bang & Olufsen, one expects to see style as well as solid performance. Thankfully, the BeoSound 4 continues this tradition. Expect it sometime this month for just about $2,860. More » -

Serene Cellphone From Samsung and Bang & Olufsen
Leave it to Bang & Olufsen to create Serene, a cellphone that turns the worlds of fashion and design upside down. Bang & Olufsen Media Contraption
This is the BeoMedia 1. It appears to be a media center of sorts. B&O has focused on simplicity with this media center by offering features that are most relevant to the user. It can do mostly the same features as any other media center: music playback, video playback, streaming radio, limited web browsing, etc. Nothing too spectacular, and if it is coming from B&O it will probably cost you your first born, but at least it looks kind of cool. The Great Pyramids of Bang & Olufsen
The Beolab 4 loudspeaker by B&O includes built-in amplifier and proprietary acoustic technologies (B&O love their proprietary stuff). These are also active speakers, so the amplifier is encased in the cabinet. And because they're small, they're perfect for either a home theatre situation (I'd use them as rear speakers. Or, with their dedicated PC mode, you can hook up to your computer or MP3 player anytime to make them more portable. Placement options are also pretty diverse — and with the prices B&O charge, you better have options. Hang them from the ceiling, put them on the wall, floor or any table and you'll also have a choice of cloth covers in red, blue black and charcoal gray. Get them in December for $1,200 a pair. -

Bang & Olufsen CD | DAB | SD
Another Bang & Olufsen audio system that is, per usual, extremely stylish and easy to look at. The Beo4 is a CD player, FM radio and has an SD slot. If you'd like DAB radio, you can get it factory fitted as an option. B&O says this is the first audio system of its kind to be able to record music from a radio or CD to the SD without a computer (though I think there's a MD player somewhere that can do it). You'll need to supply equally stylish speakers (might they suggest the BeoSound 3 speakers?) and it comes with a floor, table and wall stand. The coolest feature is the front glass door, which opens when you wave a hand in front of it to show the operation panel and CD loader. You can pick this baby up in December for a mere $2,750. -

Bang & Olufsen Clock Radio d'Art
I had to look at this product for a few minutes, then ask the guy at the store what it was before I figured out the new BeoSound 3 is a clock radio with FM tuner and SD card reader to play the rest of your digital music. No wires on this baby, it runs off a rechargeable battery and is encased in an anodized aluminum cabinet. Let me say that again for all you materials design fetishists: anodized aluminum. The time shows through the top part of the grill and there is a handle in case you want to drag your most expensive clock radio around. All the controls are on the top too. The motorized antenna rises automatically when the radio is turned on (but there is no AM, so you can forget about Air America and baseball games). B&O even included a wall bracket so you can hang this on the wall next to your velvet Elvis with the teardrop painting. Just $850, available this month. -

Samsung's Powder-Box Phone
Rumors that Samsung and Bang & Olufsen were canoodling surfaced a few weeks ago, and details about the phone they created have now emerged. The Samsung SGH-E910/Serene is inspired by a powder-box, has a trapezium shape that is shorter than the RAZR, and a little over 2.5-inches thick. That's a navigation wheel inside the circle of numbers (how iPod of them). There is a VGA camera on the side, it's Bluetooth-enabled and comes with a funky-looking charger. Two versions of this glamour phone are coming to market at the end of November—One is DECT-friendly, which is weirder than I can even explain—and the price (converted from Euros) will be in the $1,000 range. Bang & Samsung-ufsen
One thing I know about Danish-owned Bang&Olufsen: Everything they make looks really, really good (even monkey enjoy the delicious phones they make). So hearing that Samsung has partnered with the high-end consumer gadgets company to produce a phone, made me squeal with delight. Almost. And that's mainly cause I haven't seen it yet. So I may still squeal. These new phones won't have all the techie bells and whistles, according to B&O's CEO, but will just look stunningly good. He believes simple=better for business clients who don't need to send blurry images to their friends or download the latest 50 Cent ringtone. I tend to agree, so I'm looking forward to this down-to-earth, good-looking handset. Oh, and did I fail to mention that the phone will be launching in Europe, with no immediate plans to hit the US? Holding on line 1, as usual. More »
