If it weren't for my obnobvious headline, you'd all be wondering what the hell this is. Just 15 of these Champagne tower chillers, with room for a dozen magnums in individual, lit drawers, have been designed for Veuve Cliquot by Porsche Design. Want to see what it looks like open?
Almost six-and-a-half feet in height, expect to see these stainless steel monstrosities in the kitchens of F1 drivers in time for their Christmas parties. [Sybarites]

oh my god- it's full of stars.
damnit, i wanted to make the first Monolith™ comment
that. is. hot.
what is that like 15 bottles of veuve? it's like they're in my head, watching my most masturbatory fantasies.
Unfortunately, I've been unable to focus on the article or photos due to the gravitational pull of the hynotic typo, "obnobvious."
[lie]And by "hynotic," I don't mean "hypnotic" -- I mean "fascinatingly anal."[/lie]
@ECHOPHILIAC
You never say obnobviously? Obnobviously not...
love it =D
gotta win the jackpot in the lottery and buy me on e of those for the holidays =D
oh yeah..
btw
veuve clicquot is kinda overrated.. great champagne...
but don perignon and crystal kicks it ass =D
try to compare prices and you will now what im talking about =P
@vinchbr: If you are affect pretensions about champagne, at least spell Cristal and Dom Perignon correctly. And, the taste of champagne is really all about "comparing prices," right? Wrong. Veuve Clicquot Grande Dame Rose is a spectacular champagne. Both Dom and Cristal have some kind of popular name recognition, but are fundamentally overpriced due to that--but hey, if you want rap star chic, drink all you want. Leave me with my Salon, Grande Dame and Bollinger.
Can't we just all throw bones in the air and get on with the movie already?
I wish Yuengling made Champagne.
@Thud: I'm fairly sure he meant Don Perignon and Crystal, which are sold by the Fotie in fine corner liquor stores in all the best barrios. If you have a taste for Malt Champagnes that is.
Let me know when they make the LaBatt's Fridge...
Holy crap I want one of those!!
Sure it may be a bit of overkill for my Boones Farm collection, but still....
Also can be used to extract blood from Wesley Snipes..
Damn.. I want one too!!
@strider_mt2k: I am on board...I would buy that.
Magnum schmagnum, will it hold 40s of Old E?
@strider_mt2k: Aha! I KNEW there was a reason I like you! Yuengling FTW!!
THAT is one COOL champagne fridge! I want one... anyone wanna buy my house, so I can afford it?
@NNTPgrip: LMAO
anyone who things dom perignon is good has obviously been brainwashed by their obnoxious advertising campaign. there are many other much better champagnes for a fraction of the price and blind taste tests prove it over and over and over again.
LVMH own Hennessy, Krug, Mercier, Moët et Chandon (including Dom Pérignon), Ruinart, and Veuve Clicquot. and it's all a big money making scam. people pay so much money for these big brand names for crappy white wine with bubbles in it.
@Echophiliac: @AddyDugdale:
"Obnobviously" sounds like a perfectly cromulent word to me....
--get the reference, win a million...words are like a certain person--
But why don't they mention a price..
oh. right.
@TonyTriple: Yes, using that word embiggens us all.
I never thought I would see a champagne debate on the Giz. For me, Moët et Chandon is the best taste for the dollar. I've never had Veuve, but that fridge has convinced me I have to. Dom and Cristal are overrated for the palate, but great for getting tail. If you like strippers.
Hmmm, it's not because LVMH acquired all these companies that the products they make are bad. This is a bit insulting for the extremely talented winemakers who do the actual work. Just for the record, Wine Spectator named the Krug Brut Champagne 1996 the 10th best wine for 2007 (and the list includes *all* types of wine). Of course, someone will come up with a conspiracy theory that LVMH and Al Qaeda put pressure on Wine Spectator to get this ranking. Whatever. At any rate, the best thing is that Chateauneuf-du-Pape wines are ranked #1 and #3. That is the wine I serve when I have guests.
I prefer Duck, cause you know :
Ice cold beer makes me wanna cheer.
Ice cold gin makes me wanna win.
Ice cold Duck makes me wanna.... you know the rest.
Buuumm buuuummm buuummm... BAHH BAHHHHHH!!!
That aside, pretty cool looking wine cooler. Are the compartments individually temperature controlled for chilling whites?
@whoneversleeps: Perhaps you should get some.......sleep.
I remember when tech geeks argued over the Doritos and Pepsi or Fritos and Coke.
makes one wonder what the ole boys from bartles an james would say about it..... Frank, Ed, care to comment... and oh yea "thank you for your support"
p.s. am I the only one who looks at that and sees a piano.....
@Saboteur: Aaah, those were the good old days :::sigh:::. Now, they're all into molecular gastronomy and sous-vide cooking.
@Thud: Bolli FTW!
Moët aussi!
Cristal and Dom?? bwaahhaha, rapperized!!
Filed under: Etc., Porsche, LifestyleThis time of year my refrigerator is so full that I just can't fit more than half a dozen magnums of Veuve Cliquot in there. Fortunately, the purveyors of this bubbly liquid have come to the rescue with the help of Porsche Design.
JMDecombe: Krug was bought out in 1999. 1996 is a pre-conglomerate vintage...
