Next Tuesday, August 7th, at 10am PDT, Apple's holding an event which will be focused on the Mac. It'll take place at Apple's Cupertino HQ in the Town Hall. Guess those iPod nano rumors were wrong. My best guess is that it's for new iMacs that Kasper at Appleinsider has been speculating on for awhile. But we'll all find out for sure next Tuesday when we liveblog it. For those curious, the Town Hall looks like this:

Hmm I wonder if they would use the whole event just to introduce the new iMac? I hope we will see a "one more thing". Anyone know if Jobs will be talking?
Most likely they will stop selling Mac minis and 17" iMacs. Another likely scenario is going all LED with their laptop screens (really saves battery life) and upgraded Cinema HD screens (maybe those will go LED as well but that's unlikely). Of course the new keyboard and maybe even a new mouse will be included too and new iMac models will be implemented.
Well I guess we'll probably be seeing some more of that keyboard and a new imac to go with it. Quad Core? Multitouch? LED? Possibility of being pre-loaded with the new OSX? 1 week people, try and keep your pants dry.
It'd be nice to have the option to run a second monitor off an imac, I don't actually think that's possible at the moment is it?
Maybe some new, bad ass uber displays? Awesome new Mac Pros? Regardless, I am going to work myself up into a frenzy of expectations and hope in anticipation.
"Town Hall"...guess they could just settle for iAuditorium.
Thanks for the pics of the town hall; I was about to Google it. Saved me time. I thinks that's the same place they introduced the original iPod.
"Mac Event"...just hope no new laptops. I just bought my Macbook three weeks ago, and I don't want to be obsolete already.
@OXYMORON2007:
My feelings exactly. I too just bought the refreshed macbook about a month and a half ago and it would be maddening to see a brand new macbook. It would be just like a computer in the PC world...
that auditorium looks like somewhere you'd discuss stuff like leash laws and the such...not a new introduction/retirement of computer technology, regardless of brand.
Next up...Logitech hosts conference at local Fargo, ND Public Library!
@sdf632:

wow you mac people really dont get it. You are using a PC. The only difference is the OS. (and a funny bootrom). All your hardware are belong to us.
If you want to know when there is going to be a new Macbook line just look at when the next Intel mobile chipset comes out.
I would totally buy a Mac pro if I could afford it. Its actually a good deal for a workstation class computer. The notebooks not so much.

dumazz... you are using a PC, its just running a different os. Mac will revamp its product line when Intel comes out with a new mobile chipset.
oops
50 inch Cinema Display at 4K Resolution!!! Yea, their 30 incher is getting kinda old. Everyone in the industry is making a 30 inch display these days...dell, hp...more to come.
It's time for Apple to lead the pack once again with something new. 4K resolution at 50inches! Why not?!?!
The Red-One Camera (4K-res) works on a MacPro so they might as well get a screen to go with it, right?
@CALAVERASGRANDES
I understand what you are getting at; however, the industry/market has naturally, I guess, made this bifurcation to distinguish the two. Before I switched (to Mac), I always thought the same thing, but since being indoctrinated into the cult that is Apple, I have just accepted it.
It's time for a product refresh in the iMac category
but it seems too early for a Nano refresh. I think there will still be some bragging on iPhone left in old Steve and possibly an OSX refresher course as well. Stock was down almost $10 bucks today. Will there be a big surprise?
lol, next Tuesday is my brother's birthday!
I think that's definitely where they announced the original iPod, but that's going off memory of the video. I think an iMac refresher is the most likely, but I almost hate to see it even though my iMac is already a year old.
Monday is my birthday, and Tuesday is my sister's!
Lest we forget, this is also the venue where they announced the groundbreaking iPod Hi-Fi and iPod Leather Case!
BOOM!
Here's hoping this year's event can live up to that.
I am thinkin new full size iPod. Did anyone notice that video iPods are on sale at Best Buy, iPods only go on sale if they are goin to be replaced
ok, I'm going to put this whole terminology debate to bed once and for all, from now on all Intel PC's running Windows will be Wintel machines, all Intel PC's from Apple will be called Macintel machines and all Intel PC's running Linux will be call Lintel Machines.
AMD is a whole different story :)
For the fanboys:
1) Expandable Mac minitower!
2) Ultraportable MPB's!!
3) An Apple Phone!!!
Wait, scratch that last one...
@FLUIDITY
"It'd be nice to have the option to run a second monitor off an imac, I don't actually think that's possible at the moment is it?"
They have been for a while. I think they've had it since the white G5 (with the Jay Leno chin) iMacs came out.

Look at the bottom under the heading "Take in more pixels".
@Fluidity & Kinezo
It has been available for some time now, yes. I have been doing this with my iMac since '06. It's part of the reason I jumped on the iMac model I have. The mini-DVI port changed from being a mirror-only output to an optional "extended desktop". Works great, especially with a TV adapter! ;) Full screen the TV on the second monitor, and it's like I have a TV/DVR & an iMac both on my desk!
@richard8a: Great, thanks for that, I should have checked myself.
It'd be great to have a second monitor plugged in so I wouldn't waste the new monitor I bought 6 months ago and could maybe even run parallels on one screen and OSX on the other. I'll be waiting to see what happens next Tuesday with my credit card handy, assuming the changes come to the UK at the same time.
As a long time writer of all these Apple, these press events are limited to one class of devices, not a grand revamp of multiple things... so look for the new iMac, and then look for one or two minor updates on other, related items.
Or, if the iMac isn't ready and I'm completely wrong, it will be the iPod. But in any case, expect one or the other, not both.
Now, watch me be completely wrong...
Just make my MAC Pro end user upgradeable to quad core.. The prices have come down...
Could we cut out the "Boom" graphic please? It's getting extremely overused. And kinda lame.
PLEASE release the new IPOD!
