Boy Genius Report scored a hands-on with an early prototype of the Motorola Z9 slider, which has ditched the banana styling of the Z8 for a more conservative approach. Here's a rundown on the device:

- Resembles RAZR 2
- 3G
- AT&T branded including a AT&T browser key
- 2MP camera with MicroSD
- Motorola Synergy OS
- Supports AT&T's Live Video Share
We're digging the pinpoint metal buttons that could be a prototype feature, an innovative design or just a bitch to use. What do you think?

I don't really like the keypad. Is it touch sensitive or is there tactile feedback? I do however like that there is no "bump" where the speaker would be. i have a MOTO RIZR and it is really annoying when I need to punch in a #, *, or 0. Maybe it's just me but I don't like this Next Gen look for the MOTO phones..
The next in a long line of Motorola phones that do NOTHING interesting or original, except for having the latest kind of crappy keypad.
@Ryanraven: I take it that you meant "microphone" instead of "speaker".
@Collins1990: why does it need to be original, who gives a shit? its just an update of a current phone. its smaller, faster, and 2mp camera is decent. seems like a good pretty basic phone. i do agree on the keypad though, they get worse and worse, although the one on my slvr isnt bad. not everything needs to try to be the iphone.
AT&T?
When is Verizon going to get an after RAZR slider version?
I miss my Kyocera SE47.
I love the RAZR, but I want a slider version dammit!
I want a verizon slider that doesn't feel like it's going to break when I pick it up (I'm looking at you chocolate)
Does it still have a Motorola interface? Yes? Then I'll skip it, thank you very much.
@danger_the_pirate: The razr was original. Sold 100 million or something, too.
I'm not saying it has to be original, but if it's just an evolution, it's not going to grab any new customers.
what's with the new moto's os? anybody tried it out? any feelings about it?
coz if it's just "another" moto os... crapzorz bigtime!
looks like those pinpoints will serve a double purpose, an innovative design and a bitch to use.
I guess that means you can call them a feature.
@rapo: the new moto os is linux-based... ive never used one, so all i know is that it looks better.
though, ive never really understood people's problem with the motorola os... personally i have more of a problem with nokias...
That's too bad, I really liked the Z8 design. However, a better OS is in the works for Moto, so that should be a good selling point for someone looking for a good basic phone. Me? I'll stick with my Blackberry Curve.
