Hot on the tail of the $100 laptop, Intel is looking to get itself a piece of hot third-world action by creating the Edu-Wise, a $400 laptop for developing nations. The original article was in Portuguese, but Google was able to tell us this about the project: More »

MPGlass 230M: Movie Glasses for the Masses

Some may argue that nothing compares to sitting in a movie theater and watching the latest Hollywood action film on the big screen. For those of you who prefer, however, not to be in the presence of loud-mouthed hooligans blabbing on cell phones, sticky floors, and high snack prices, nothing compares to watching a film in the comfort of your own home. To add a little spice to your theater, check out the MPGlass 230M. It's a pair of glasses that plugs into a DVD player, VCR, or game console and fools your eyes and brain into thinking that you're looking at a 30-inch screen from two meters (6.5 feet in real measurements) away. Stereo sound envelops your very being via the supplied headphones. It'll set you back about $523 (or £300 if you're in the UK, from where the glasses originate).

More Mac Modding Madness: An iMac MAME Cabinet

More exciting news from the Mac modding front. This time, we have a MAME cabinet based on a flat panel iMac. The arcade emulation system's cabinet is of the cocktail variety, that is, you use it while you're sitting down. Made out of wood, the cabinet uses speakers that look to have been donated by a museum (read: they're ancient looking). Of course, no MAME system would be complete without a joystick and arcade-like buttons for players one and two, which this Mac mod has in too-cool-for-the-room black. Load up your favorite ROM, insert coin, and blast aliens away in true "think different" style. More »

Bellwave A308: It's What's Inside That Counts

If the Bellwave A308 can escape lawsuits from Motorola, it might have a chance at success in China and Taiwan. There's certainly nothing special about the outside of this Bluetooth-equipped cameraphone, but take a look inside and you'll see that the company has directly ripped off the design of Motorola's RAZR. Besides that complete lack of creativity, it's a pretty good GSM phone, though, with a 2-megapixel camera, MP3 playback and a MiniSD slot. More »

Aquacraft V24

This RC speedboat can hit the open seas at up to 35 mph and can run for about 40 minutes on one tiny tank of gas. It's 54 inches long and its unique design will probably everyone out of the water with a quickness. Price? A holy-crap-inducing $1,499.95. More »

Chinese Surge Protector is Teh SUX0R

A very cute, in-depth look at what at first blush appeared to be the coolest surge protector out there but is really a hunk of junk. I mean look at that monster: voltage meter, individual on/off switches, a "live" light, and support for every plug type in the known universe. More »

Hello Kitty Ear Cleaners

There's an ongoing meme over at BoingBoing.net on ear cleaning and, thankfully, it has spread. Behold: the Hello Kitty mimikaki. This thin device—or, more scientifically, "plastic stick"—is designed for in-depth ear cleaning. The more we think about this, the cooler and grosser it seems. I mean, to have someone really get in there with a stick and pull out a real crusty dark wax ball would be excellent, but to create specific tools, adorned with mouth-less cats, no less, smacks of fetishism. Kaala Sports Evolution: Golf Bag of the Future

The Kaala Sports Evolution Golf Bag looks like an escape pod from a star cruiser, but it's useful right here on earth. Its hard shell exterior keeps your golf clubs dry and locked away, and inside there is a carousel that delivers the club you specify with the rotation of a simple dial. It rolls on retractable wheels, and you can even get a motorized model that propels itself along for you with little effort required. It's $430, or $865 for the self-propelled version. More »

Inspired Case Mod of a Woman's Torso

A skilled craftsman was so completely captivated by his wife's body, he decided to make computer case out of it. He created a gypsum cast of her torso and then stuffed it with a motherboard and other computer parts, and topped it off with a liquid cooling system. Take a look at how this was done. Amazing. Split-Design PS2 Controller

Why sit and stare of pictures of the Nintendo Revolution controller all day when you can experience it first hand, but with your PS2. SplitFish Gameware has added this, the GlideFX, to their line of gaming accessories. The left handle has the D-Pad and left analog stick, while the right handle has the buttons and a trackball. Unlike the Revolution controller, the GlideFX will be lacking the motion sensor. This is going to be made available for the PS2 with another version being released for the PS3 later this year. It will be debuting at E3 2006. More »
