Motorola Canary Gets FCC Thumbs Up

Listen up you thin form-factor Motorola lovers, the next phone to complement your Q, RAZR, and SLVR has just gotten one step closer to hitting the shelves by getting FCC approval. The phone, named the RAZR K1, has been approved as a quad-band GSM and EDGE phone. Check out all of our hip-hoppin', be-boppin' Canary coverage here.

Now it is time for a little off-topic discussion. So it seems every damn day another new device gets some kind of FCC approval. Does it honestly take a lot of work to get something approved from the FCC, or does some intern just sit at the FCC desk with a giant "approved" stamp? Any insiders know what kind of rigorous steps are involved in getting approved? Leave a comment or shoot me an email, you can find my e-mail address over on the left. Teach me a thing or two and you may earn yourself a comments invite. – Travis Hudson

Cellphone Porn: Motorola Canary and Capri Mash It Up

We bring you pictures from a website that treats cellphones like porn: BengalBoy, the so-called "Bleeding Edge Pimp," shows us what Motorola's two unannounced and unreleased handsets, those two well-rounded baubles nicknamed Capri and Canary, look like when they're nuzzling up next to each other.

In case you were wondering, the Capri is the purple slider on the far left, and the Canary, a clamshell that's pictured in gray here, is the Motorola Razr's thinner and smaller successor. And what do you know? Compared next to each other here, the Capri and Canary are just about the same size. So take your pick, slider or clamshell. You might want to take a look at this guy's site for dozens more pictures. But we're warning you, it's not exactly safe for work. – Charlie White

Motorola RAZR II (Canary) Pics Surface

The first pictures we've seen of Motorola's upcoming RAZR update have surfaced, where the gorgeous cellphone, code-named "Canary," has gotten a glowing review. It's given the once-over and photographed by BengalBoy (a strange site that's not safe for work that mixes pictures of lovely ladies with pictures of lovely tech). The phone is about two-thirds the width of the current RAZR, and about the same thickness. It has 2-megapixel camera with video, supports microSD cards, and has a 352x288 screen inside. But BengalBoy was most impressed with its design:

"What really sets this "Bird" apart from the rest of the cell phones floating around is its "Pure Design". Simple, straight forward, uncluttered and encased in a "Glass Like" Colored Mirror with matching colored keypad..... the highly reflective mirrored surface draws instant "What is That??" comments from stander's by and admiring and covetous looks from those who hold it in their hands!!"

Looks like quite an update to an already-beautiful design. We especially like the wraparound speaker incorporated into the bottom of the phone. – Charlie White
