What Would Happen If We Tried to "Play" This NES Emulator Cartridge Casemod?

Russian Casemod Freak Builds a Miniature Living Room Inside His PC

Because the one sentence written about this miniature-living-room-inside-a-PC-case was composed in Russian, i'll just say this—whoever created it is awesome, but they might also be a serial killer. More »

Motorized Stargate Pyramid Case Mod Makes My Sci-Fi Senses Giddy

This amazing case was built from scratch, and would surely make MacGyver—I mean Colonel Jack O'Neill—proud. Modeled after Stargate's Goa'uld Ha'tak starship, the HTPC has a 5-inch PSOne screen, and its lights and motorized door are remote-controlled. More »

XCM Black Light Cases Makeover Your Xbox 360 In Minutes

'Steampunk Frankenstein' PC Is Awesome Enough To Excuse Being Steampunk In The First Place

CinematographHD: Two Monitors In One Incredible Case Mod

When a video editor became depressed looking at his laptop, he did the only logical thing. He went to the garage, whipped out the welding torch and cooked himself up a portable system that could store a five-drive RAID0 array and two 22-inch monitors. Video is captured via unspecified HDMI-wielding video card and project output occurs through a Blu-ray burner. We don't know what the whole honking system weighs in at, but we do know that this 10-minute spark montage build video puts Rocky !, II, III and IV to shame: More »

Special Edition DC Xbox 360s Are Hot In the Non-RROD Sense

Check out these four horsemen of the Xbox 360 apocalypse from ComicCon: one Watchmen, one DC Comics, one Gears of War, and one Terminator Salvation, all up for grabs as part of a contest from Warner Bros. These aren't just new cases, either, they're full-fledged Xbox 360 consoles. There's only limited info to go on right now concerning these custom consoles, so we have no idea whether or not the superheros and super powers splayed across the fronts of these Xbox 360s will be enough to combat the RROD that surely awaits each of them in the future. Cheese Wheel PC, Because...We Actually Don't Know

We're not sure what drives one to put a PC in a cheese wheel, but we're glad that such outlets exist for those who are so inclined. For what would man have done, say, 100 years ago if he wanted to run TurboTax from a pile of aging dairy product? He would have lived a sad life and died alone, his hands reeking of yogurt. If You Build a PC Case Out of Duct Tape, Geeks Will Come

We all know duct tape has a million uses—but did you know that the actual figure is a million and one? It's true—a bunch of geeks confirmed it when they succeeded in building a PC case entirely out of the sticky stuff. You laugh because it's stupid, but you have to be impressed with the amount of thought these guys put into the project. They even managed to keep all of the components and the structure itself secure using rolled up duct tape support beams. If you would like to do the same for some reason, complete instructions are available on the project site. UPDATE: Video added. More »

XCM Xbox 360 Casemod Glows Whether Console is Overheating or Not

Irresistible Xbox 360 red ring of death heatsink jokes aside, this glow-in-the-dark replacement shell from XCM is the bee's knees for gamers who like to do it in the dark. Iron Man Mark 1 PC Case Mod: What Would Tony Stark Think?

Like most nerds, I am in full Iron Man mode as the movie release date draws closer. So, I couldn't help but get excited after hearing about a PC case mod based on Tony Stark's Mark 1 Iron Man suit. Is it the best case mod I have ever seen? No, not really. In fact, I would have expected a little more from the dude who brought us the Team Fortress II sentry gun mod. Still, I appreciate the hand-crafted look and the 2x BFG 9800GX2 Quad Sli under the hood. At the very least, it is pretty damn cool for a three- week build. Check out the video after the jump. More »

Humidor Casemod Master Puts New PC In Tiny Wooden Box

Jeffrey Stephenson, the man who first looked at a cigar humidor and said, "I can turn that into a PC," has made another Art Deco PC out of wood. The G-metric Nano, which will be unveiled publicly at CES this year, is the smallest enclosure Stephenson could design that contained a VIA NX15000 Nano-ITX mainboard, 1GB of RAM, and a slot-loading DVD player. The case itself is hard Pennsylvania cherry, but Stephenson's signature inlay is done with walnut, mahogany, basswood and cherry veneers. The feet serve a dual purpose of adding style and hiding the fact that the large heatsink extends out of the box a tad. [Jeffrey Stephenson]

Compiano: Part Computer, Part Piano, All Insane

According to its eBay listing, this $20,000 piano "is not a piano at all" but a fully functioning computer with a hidden 26" Philips LCD TV/monitor and a 6.8 GHz processor. Modded from a 1904 Chickering upright piano, the maker argues that it is not just "the world's most beautiful computer," but "the world's oldest computer" and the "world's highest security computer" as well. The description indicates that Compiano smells of rich mahogany, but we think we smell something else: More »

Brilliant Casemod Takes Us Back to the USSR, 1961

To hell with all this newfangled modern-looking stuff like that iMac—let's go back to the heyday of the Soviet Union, circa 1961 when the Reds were making these Rekord TV sets. Caseless Case Mod Splays Out 'Puter in Exploded Midair View

This might not be accurately referred to as a case mod, but WTF happened to this PC? The Sky Puter appears to be frozen in mid-explosion. EA Sports Fifa '07 Case Mod Winner Melds Sport, Hardware

The winner of last year's EA Sports Fifa case mod contest pulled a repeat this year, managing to outdo himself as well as the competition. The case itself is covered in a textured paint that simulates a leather soccer ball (sorry 'the rest of the world,' your sport is still "soccer" here) and even the peripherals are airbrushed to match. But the real kicker is the removable foosball table atop the chassis. Almost makes you wish you played Fifa, doesn't it? More »

    A Real Beaver Case Mod

We've seen plenty of case mods, including some built to look like humans, but this is a one of a kind. This tale revolves around a case modder, a hunter and a taxidermist (sounds like one hell of a sitcom). This once-living stuffed beaver now houses a complete computer that includes a Core 2 Duo processor, 160GB hard drive, 1GB of memory and a mini-ITX motherboard. There definitely needs to be more real animal case mods. So loyal Gizmodo readers, ready your guns, knives and clubs and get modding. (This post has been deemed vegetarian and PETA approved.) More »

Jeffrey Stephenson's Decomatic Model 12: Wow

Check out master craftsman and PC case modder Jeffrey Stephenson's latest creation which he calls The Decomatic Model 12. Clever Case Mod Puts PC Where It Belongs

Scythe XCLIO A380: PC Case or Jet Engine?

This is one wild-looking PC case from Scythe Corp. in Japan, the XCLIO A380 ATX with an LED-lit 10-inch fan up front that looks like a jet engine. Don't be scared away by that fan's imposing size, though—at its lowest speed the thing and its side-mounted twin put out just under 28dBA of sound. Crank them up to 1000rpm and you can overclock to your heart's content, especially with the more-efficient and cooler-running Intel Core processors. More »
