I have this t-shirt that has "holy shit" in japanese on the front of it. There's something so funny about combining Japan and poop.

I wonder how the literal translation would go....

Japanese people DO have an odd obsession with poop- it's an attempt to make a play on words and see the brighter side of things.

The word for poop, "unko", can be broken into two chinese characters- Un and Ko. Un is also the reading for a different character meaning 'luck'. So when you step in dog poop, they say "Chotto un ga tsuite iru" or "a little luck is stuck onto you".

So an age-old saying has evolved into sticking a little golden poo on your cellphone.

I've got one of these! I've got it as a strap on my phone. I got it last year at the famous Golden Temple (Kinkakuji) in Kyoto. It's supposed to bring good luck and that kind of shit. Never seen the one on the baseball mitt though.
