    T-Mobile Launches CallerTunes

callertunes_tmo.jpg imageT-Mobile started their Ringback Tones offering—the ability to play custom bits of music or comedy clips (ach!) instead of a standard ring when someone calls your phone. This is what the person calling you hears, not your own Battle Hymn of the Retarded that plays every time your mom calls to remind you to it's the anniversary of your failed abortion. Called 'CallerTunes,' the service does have one possible redemption: you can tailor the ringback tone per-person, so if someone you really despise calls you, yet you don't want to actually block their call, you can program a piercing sine wave or something, assuming that T-Mobile actually loads said wave into their limited selection. For now you'll have to torture them with the closet thing they have to sonic sadism, which would appear to be the Number 1-rated 'Get Low' by Lil' Jon.

CallerTunes is $1.50 a month and $2 per song selected.
