LG Chocolate 3 Gets Release Date Moved up

Last week we told you that the upcoming LG Chocolate 3 was going to be available July 14th: Verizon have just come up with the news that it'll be available a day earlier, July 13. They're pretty proud of the candybar phone's Verizon Rhapsody interlink, and the "all-in-one" nature of the gizmo as a PMP, cellphone, GPS navigator, camera and car-stereo FM source. It'll be available in black or light blue, for $129.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate at Verizon Communications Stores (including Circuit City branches.) Press release below.

LG Chocolate 3 Arriving July 14th

The new LG Chocolate has finally gotten a firm release date—it will go on sale July 14th to Verizon Wireless customers. Remember, this Chocolate is a lot different from LG's candybars of old. It's actually a clamshell with a small, 1.76" touchscreen on the outside and larger 2.22" normal screen on the inside. It features a 2MP camera and stores your media on 1GB of internal memory expandable to 9GB by 8GB microSDHC. Expect to pay $299 at full retail price or $129 with a 2-year contract. [phonearena]

Visual Voicemail Coming to Verizon... For a Price

Rumor has it that Verizon Wireless will be joining AT&T and Sprint in offering visual voicemail, in this case on four upcoming phones: LG's Chocolate 3 and an updated Voyager (possible software update but more likely hardware refresh), along with the mysteriously code-named "Blaze" and "Utopia" from Motorola. That's more phones than any other carrier to date, though there's no mention of it on the iPhone wannabe LG Dare. The catch is that the optional service will cost $2 a month—annoying when you consider other carriers offer it for free, though totally expected when you consider that even Verizon's email app costs an extra $5 per month. LG's New Black Label Cellphone: First Look

LG is following up the love-it or hate-it Chocolate, and the Shine, with its third "Black Label" device: the as-yet unnamed cellphone you can see here. It looks a more serious and slender beast than the first two, and sports a five megapixel camera, tempered glass and a carbon-fiber finish. A Set of Chocolate Tools Please

The holidays are all about candy, and nothing says holiday sweets like a set of chocolate tools. Wait, is that right? We know there are chocolate shaped bunnies, Champaign bottles and even gadgets, so we guess chocolate tools aren't that strange. RIM Sues LG Over the Words "Black," "Berry" and "Pearl"

Incensed over a pair of LG handsets that truthfully, probably were named to ape BlackBerry—the Black Cherry and Strawberry—RIM's taking LG to court. Fair enough. But RIM's arguing that any wireless device with the words "black," "berry," or "pearl" in its name isn't kosher, and requires RIM's consent. Apparently, Verizon asked for the okay to use Black Cherry and Blueberry for a set of LG's Chocolate phones, but RIM gave a wag of the finger, obviously leading Verizon and LG to just go for it. Microsoft Chocolate Keyboards Are Deliciously Ergonomic
