Blackberries aren't just the communications tool of choice for dudes that wear suits to work, but apparently are also the favorite device of Canadian gang-bangers. Yeah, I'm as surprised as you are that there are gangs in Canada, but doesn't it make sense that Canadian gangs would be tech-savvy and polite enough to communicate via email on their Blackberries? Apparently they like the secure email features as well as, one can only assume, the push email, full QWERTY keyboards, and sweet belt-clips. [Canada.com via The Raw Feed]

I once got accused of being a "drug dealer" in 1993 for owning a pager. I was in the Navy at the time living in the barracks. With only pay phones around, it was nice to have a personal# to give family members and friends.
the pearl is also quite compact and has rounded edges for easy uh... "transportation"
...is that guy a member of some Mayan/Incan gang? Those tats are amazing, ...and totally ridiculous.
are you guys kidding? it's becoming more predominant to see gangs using the web as a recruiting tool as well as a medium for communication. it's wrong to go about with the assumption that gangs are not tech savvy.
oooh! pwned! rival gang members tagged on his FACE! burn!
That guy needs to round up his crew and go stomp whoever did that to his face. I mean seriously, why didn't they just shoot him in the face. It would have been more humane.
Glorify the tech, but stick these thugs in a deep hole lined with pointed sticks.
The people they victimize are human beings!
seriously, what do gangs in canada do?
"Please hand over your wallet, sir, or we'll give you something to cry aboot eh?"
"Oh my, im terribly sorry - i seem to have left my wallet at home"
"Sorry to have bothered you, then."
"Oh it's quite alright. Next time, eh?"
eeehm..., last time I checked 'gang-bang' meant a different kind of group activities that did not involve non-consensual acts of transfer of property.
I use to live in Canada...I gotta say the gangs there are scary, if you're an 11 year old girl. This whole gang thing, I thought it died out after 5th grade or something.
Half of these guys can't even read a sentence, how do they recruit people online or even check their email?!
Canadian gangs? what do the 'hoods look like in Canada? "take off, those hosers tagged my moose again. get the scrub brush."
i liked it better when all i knew about Canada i learned from watching 'strange brew'...
hmmmmm. I gotta good friend who's a mounty (yeah, I laugh too- but they're REAL, and nothing like brendan fraiser) and that friend has repeatedly told me that there is so little gang activity in Canada that most canadians don't even understand what a gang really is. I mean, I live in the OTHER CA (california) and I'm pretty sure our gangs'll whoop their gang's ASS.
Holster doubles for his piece and his Blackberry...
This Canadian Gang Member looks more like an African Clan Member.
I want to kick him, eh.
That guy looks like he is from that Atlantis cartoon or somthing
@nizz: You mean the way his tats look Central American or maybe Samoan? Totally.
Who knew Canadians could be nasty? I'm in shock.
These comments really hurt me as a Canadian. I could rip into Americans so easily, but I guess the polite stereotype is true.
Also, I have never heard anyone - ever - say "aboot."
i used to live in Canada and the gangs there are pretty serious like any place else. violent people are still violent people regardless of where they live.
i remember an especially violent biker gang, the Grim Reapers, that was involved in gun-running. lots of neo-nazis in the central provinces. asian gangs and triads in Vancouver and Toronto. so yeah, we got the whole spectrum.
As a canadian i am biased to to see problems related to my great nation. I think that instead of worry about guns and such we should attack their internet privaleges, think about it were do the get their guns... ebay! Also since our gangs are better equiped than our troops I think we should give any confiscated guns the armed forces. A gloc is beter than a supersoaker.
I live in Toronto and the gangs here are a real problem. It's not as bad as some places in the States, but I don't think that anyone would consider children being shot while they're playing in their front yards or running gun battles in major shopping areas to be particularly polite.

it's wrong to go about with the assumption that gangs are not tech savvy.
But is it wrong to assume CANADIAN gangs are not tech savvy?
Canadian gang == Hockey Team
Canadian tech advances: radial sawmill, whiskey.
