The new PSP, in technical terms, is fugly. The updated colors include the obligatory Piano Black, Ceramic White, Ice Silver, and then...Rose Pink, Lavender Purple and Felicia Blue—notice there's no Fireball Orange or Blood Red. Apparently the new PSP is a kinder, gentler machine with wussy casing that will operate in stark contrast to God of War flaming blade fatalities. Bonus back shot after the jump.
It's like my sister put Barbie's clothes on my He-Man. It works for the Nintendo DS, but on the Sony PSP these colors are just troubling. [sony via kotaku]

Yeah, it really needs blood red, screaming yellow and midnight blue... this pansy pastel stuff got to go.
Speaking of eyes burning... between the 360 theme on this page and the Nissan ad on the front page, Giz is pretty fugly lately.
@scrag: by that I suppose you mean that the DS redesign imitated the PS2 slimification that preceded it by a few years? I couldn't agree more. Get your own business model, Nintendo!
I don't know where this "fugly" term comes from. Think what you want about the platform, but the PSP is easily the best looking handheld gaming machine ever created. I personally think the colors are pretty nice - not too garish. I wouldn't go for anything in the lavender or pink category (too threatening to my delicate manhood) but I imagine they will appeal to some more than the awful Pepto-Pink units that came before.

Obviously you never used the Sega Nomad, I'm pretty sure that thing got me laid once.
I liked the old Asia colors better - vibrant dark blue and glossy bright pink, as well as the subdued (ie not bling bling) gold. The new colors are not only too much like the DS's, but are just too understated to get me excited.

i wish they made a matt black to avoid scratchs and fingure prints. they also need to call up apple and ask them what kinda screen they have on the iphone that seems to be able to take punishment.
Instead of picking pretty colours... why not picking a spot for "analog numero deux"?
