As part of Walmart's Thanksgiving madness, you can get an 80GB Playstation 3 plus 10 Blu-ray discs (under $30 in value), plus the 5 free titles you can get with mail-in rebate. That's the biggest deal we've seen on HD discs since the $99 HD DVD players. This bloody format war, we call it the digital Vietnam. [Walmart via Crave's Erica Ogg]

Whooo hoooo yeah, is that any 10 movies or pre-selected? If pre-selected who wants my copy of Sound of Music on Blu-Ray?
Now I will definately get a PS3
Great deals, great war. I'm sure most people have both formats by now.
The ad fails to mention all 15 discs are of Police Academy 4: Citizens On Patrol.
digital Vietnam....nice dude...nice.
Ooh... Minimum TWO per store.
Good luck getting one of those then :(
Walmart has just announced they are selling a Symphonic Blu-Ray player with 500 blu-ray discs and both PS3 games for $3. Also, they are sweetening the deal with a Durabrand HD-DVD player that includes 75 HD-DVD titles and a six pack of Sam's Cola for 49 cents.
War: What the hell's it good for? Absolutely nothin'
EXCEPT FABULOUS PRICES!
@SchruteBuck:
Your post needs more funny
Seriously though (because I can't keep all the models straight anymore), is this one backwards-compatible?
if blurays cost 30 bucks and ps3 games are 60. can i just opt for 7 games?
oh wait do they even have 7 good games? well regardless i would think that would be a killer deal there.
that tells you what a crazy markup the blurays and dvds have. that they can afford to give away 15 friggin of them with a ps3 purchase. shame on hollywood!!!
What's wrong with the SONY laptops?
"digital Vietnam"
haha. [:
".....How can you kill woman and children?!"
"Easy, You just don't lead them as much."
Doesn't the PS3 come with spiderman 3? I thought I read that somewhere. If thats true then it's 16 free movies.
wow. they're desperate to get people into blu-ray. how much money is sony losing on this?
@avrohim:
40 gig version does, 80 comes with Motocross.
As for this deal, Im not to excited to pay 500 dollar for a Playstation 3 but I am going to. I buy dvd's for the special features and with the growing trend of saving special features for Blu-ray or HD-dvd Im sold. It will be cool in a year when I do get to play Killzone and Metal Gear bu tit hard to put down 500 when my taste in the game selection is limited. But as I said, I enjoy special features and I love this deal.
10 movies from the selection available in-store the day you buy it. willing to bet with the selection available that day you will have a hard time even finding 10 different movies... let alone 10 decent movies.
What's crazy us that is on SATURDAY, not Black Friday. So they'll be holding two PS3s back on Friday! I DEMAND RIOTS!
My sister and I do Black Friday every year, it's a sadistic kick we get, but I don't think I'm gonna venture back out on Saturday. I am tempted to buy this for the price, though.
@omg-ponies:
The 80GB PS3 being sold here is partially backwards compatible - there's a search engine on Sony's site so you can see how each PS2 game runs on it. The 40 GB isn't backwards compatible at all, and the 60 GB is almost perfectly backwards compatible.
