Who cares about Apple's crystal cathedral on Fifth Avenue, when you can have a green-roof facility in the Windy City? We like this much better, where surrounding the skylight atop Apple's Chicago store is the green, green grass of home, growing free since 2003.

It's not really grass at all, though, it's a succulent plant known as Sedum kamtschaticum, and it's visible from lots of the other high-rises surrounding this Michigan Avenue store. You can plant the stuff on your roof, too, with GreenGrid modules, four-inch deep framework for that roof-pasture look. Goats not included.
