Bibliochaise

We'll sit on a good sofa over a great armchair any day, but we'd definitely make an exception for the Bibliochaise, literally an armchair library for those who like to be "immersed in deep reading". It can shelve five linear meters worth of books, so the question is would you put the books you love into it, or the books that look best?

  • I'd buy a proper freakin chair and read my books on my Palm/Notebook/Libre!

  • well, even if you like the physical books, you need a better chair than that for sitting and reading. that thing looks awfully uncomfortable. i switch back and forth these days, especially since i realized that adobe reader will rotate e-books 90 degrees, which is great with a widescreen notebook!

  • It looks great, but I doubt it's very comfortable for reading of any kind. Plus there's no room on the arms to safely balance a beverage or snacks. I love physical books. Especially since most of the items I read are only in physical form, and they have a 'feel' to them. But there's no real room here to balance an eletronic book, either.

  • I bet a toilet like that would be pretty popular ;) -Ryan

  • I wonder what would happen when my 95 lb. dog leaps up on my lap while I am sitting in this "chair" and her tail whips and hurls books all over the room....Can you say "five linear meter" asswhoopin'?

  • Man, that looks exceptionally uncomfortable to use for any length of time. Another example of function follows form...this business of wedging a rectilinear seat into a set of bookshelves. Here's a thought...design a comfortable chair, and then wrap bookshelves around it. Now that I'd buy.

  • i like it. it looks neat and with an ottoman for my feet i think it could be comfortable. also i always need extra book storage space. some of the other comments here make it sound like you can only own one chair at a time. i think what some of you guys need is not a chair but one of those floatation tanks with a LCD screen built into the inside of the lid so you can read your stories.

  • It reminds me of Richard Avedon's bed: http://www.richardavedon.info/apartment/images/richard_ave...

  • oh my god! i want one! i'm sure it is insanely out of my price range, but has anyone made any headway into finding out how much it costs -- i can't find anything anywhere. plus, can you even buy them in the us?

  • plus also i'm not one of those people who thinks that the kinder or whatevs has no chance of survival (its the future, obvs) but any mention of fake book readers and how this chair doesn't properly support them really misses the point here
