From the department of redundancy department, Microvision has announced today that they will be unveiling (announcing) a prototype miniature digital projector at CES next week. This projector is small (see picture above) and is designed to fit in handheld electronic device such as cellphones, PDAs or other multimedia gadgets. It is nowhere close to being ready for the market, but at least the prototype is done. We'll have more on this live from the show floor next week.

Man, I love those Andes mint chocolates, even if they are too small.
The universally recognized unit for measuring size.
Way cool!
Definitely keep us updated on this one. Imagine all the new pranks you will be able to pull on your friends, neighbors, kids and co-workers when you can project a rampaging rotweiller on the rug, or Jenna Jameson on the wall next your friend, or your own bathroom door.
My, oh my, where will technology take us next.
it'd be nice to see a projector keyboard come out of this.
Why?
mmm mint chocolate
You'll burn a hole in your pocket, literally.
Small things open up big doors. This thing could have some cool implications in phones.
i wonder if they could combine this with a webcam, and build it into a laptop (i think it was obvious they were gonna get to this at some point...it was only a question of when in my mind.) it's in my philosophy that unless i hear something's physically impossible, that its only a matter before it comes out.
I could see this being an interesting add-on to an iPod Video or Zune. Got a few friends wanting to watch a movie, project it onto a wall for a 20" TV size. Great for dorms, office cubicles, watching porn in the bathroom...........
No issues with heat or buring up pockets! this is a laser based tech. so no hot lamps, etc. - it stays cool to the touch basically and if it gets too close to anything, say your eyeball or your pocket = it sense that and automatically turns off! also the focus is automatic, due to the design of the lasers! TOO COOL - this one will change display tech forever - I want one now for my home theater!
