Remember that time when your Blackberry didn't work? You know, when that important Glengarry lead emailed you interested in investment services? And when you didn't write back all Hell broke loose. You lost the client, your job, your wife/car/house/lap dog.
Fret not, because Cingular has your back, my friends. If you call to complain, Cingular will hook you up with a $2.50 refund. $2.50!!
My guess is that the time it will take on the phone to get such a discount will not reimburse the average Blackberry user for their hourly rate. Let's get this process automated, Cingular/AT&T. And let's just cease to be so damn tacky.
Cingular's Blackberry Users Can Request Credit For Service Outage [consumerist]

civilization almost ended and all they can offer is a $2.50 refund.. wow... all we need to do is wait for the lawsuits to start
What? They credit my account? I thought for sure they'd mail me a Visa gift card with a $2.50 limit.
wtf? do they think everyone's that stupid? I'm sure a lot of Blackberry and other companies will switch to Windows Mobile now!
I won a $25 on online game from Citibank. But the catch is that you have to print out the winning page and get it notarized. So, pay $65 to get it notarized to win $25. O and they will say they will mail the check after about 12-16 weeks.
This $2.50 seem much better.
Pay $65 to get it notarized? Should be able to get it done real cheap and or free at your town library.
jifjif, where do you live that they charge $65.00 to get something notarized???
"Won a $25 on online game from Citibank"
Now major banks have online games with cash prizes???
"Print out the winning page and get it notarized"
Proving you... are the person you say you are???
"Pay $65 to get it notarized"
Don't you mean $6.50???
I know this topic is supposed to be on the Crackberry outage rebate, but what the hell is going on with this post?
BTN
Man, I must be talking to the wrong notarizing places (local stores that I yellow paged).
And sorry to change topic :p
The prorated amount for the downtime (12 hours or so) seems appropriate. What, should everyone get a free month of blackberry service?
The cheapness of these threads never ends it seems.
gofastmini2005: I'd agree with you IF the companies charged you a simple "prorated amount" when you break your end of the contract by canceling your plan or going over in minutes / data usage.
The fact is they tear us apart and people who were affected by this deserve more than $2.50.
With that being said, Verizon once gave me a $10.00 credit for staying on the phone with them for two hours to solve a problem that ended being their fault, so the phone companies have been fair on occasion.
Why is it you feel they owe you anything? I don't remember seeing anything that said anything to the effect of "Your service will work 100% of the time, guaranteed."
Personally I enjoyed the vacation from my Crackberry, and when I realized it wasn't working I went to work, got on my computer, and got on with my day.
off topic juss a reminder for those who didnt know but starting next month cingular is rolling out unlimited data plans starting at 19.99 for media net and 24.99 for mdeia net and m2m mesaging ~radioshack employee~
Why is the rebate even optional? Cingular contracted to provide x amount of service for Y amount of money. They broke the agreement, so they get less money.
GIMME MY $2.00!!!!

Great movie quote blitzcat.
blitz-
no, they didn't. RIM's service failed, not Cingular's. Please get your facts straight.
Doc-
You agreed to the early termination fee when you bought your discounted phone, and you know it's not prorated if you break the contract early.
wow, this give a new meaning to the ridiculous word.
I'd rather stick with my Nokia e61 connected to my own imap server to get real-time email, if something fails at least i can blame myself.

actually, they more or less do say this. all carriers do. if you experience dropped calls or other in-call trouble, you can always call in and get a credit.
they don't say it will work in 100% of places, but where it does work, they expect it to work more or less 100% of the time.
