    Dry Cleaning v2.0: Waterless Washing

Today the headlines are all about oil shortages. But tomorrow's precious resource is water. That's why Industrial design students Wendy Chua, 21, and Gabriel Tan, 23, from the National University of Singapore invented the waterless washing machine. Unlike dry cleaning, which relies on chemicals, this machine uses negative ions, compressed air and deodorants to clean clothes. Inspired by air purifiers, the students believe the negative ions are a natural cleaning agent—and if my clothes come out smelling like fresh flowers I would be only too happy to save a few quarters on the dryer cycle.
