Rope is so 2005. And the JumpSnap agrees. It's a jump rope system that doesn't use rope. Instead, it appears (little info on their site) that weighted ball spin on handles to make it feel like there is a rope, even though there isn't. We expected some complex motion-sensing, laser guidance system. Apparently such technologies are still triumphed by good old weighted balls.
The idea isn't necessarily bad - especially if you live in a home where you don't want to scuff the floors/ceiling/cat. But at $60, the JumpSnap is about $55 too expensive.
Thanks Jacob!

so, you can just spin these in your hands and not actually jump... sounds great. Couldn't you also just jump up and down without these and save $60?
I heard something (on NPR?) about one upside: these can be given to inmates without having to worry whether about them being used to strangle anyone.
Yeah, still stupid.
Ok, so it's a 60 dollar imitation of 99 cent jump rope. That's logical. How bout a frickin laser beam that imitates a toothpick?
Do these look like adult fetish toys to anyone else? of course, I guess rope is also used in that fashion.
Jump rope just isn't the same if you can't trip on it and embarrass yourself in the employee gym in front of that nice girl from accounting.
Looks like you could wap yourself pretty well on crossovers.
They also look like they could be purchased from a store where everything vibrates.
sounds like none of you actually jumped rope since your all fat asses, your arms start to burn after jumping rope. it is alot more than just jumping up and down.
katieinshoes- a handle with a weighted ball on a string is not a weapon how, exactly? if you tie them together, you have a crappy nunchuck. or some sort of flail.
the mental image on inmates jumping rope is funny though.
The ones for inmates have balls that go around in a small round tube, giving the feeling of rope without the nunchuck/rope-eyness.
