    LED Music Box

Music Box is an art project by Jin-Yo Mok in collaboration with Gicheol Lee that works a lot like music boxes of old, with the addition of a digital interface and indicator LEDs. Using a computer to select which lights are activated,
the wheel is then turned with a hand crank. Where normally pins would pluck the music box's tines, instead photosensors register if an LED is activated or not, causing the sound to play.

The only thing that could make this any better is if a laptop weren't required to activate the LEDs, and if you could instead run your fingers over the lights to turn them on or off. Still, it's pretty great, and they've even created a Flash version so you can play around with a Music Box at home. It even exchanges songs from the real world version with the Flash version so you can listen to other people's compositions.
