LG Chocolate, Due July 31 + An Almost Hands On First Look

Walking around New York City, you can't help but be bombarded with posters everywhere announcing the U.S. arrival of the LG Chocolate on Verizon Wireless. Unless Verizon's marketing people are lying, the cellphone will be available on July 31, this Monday. I played around with the Chocolate last night at an LG event and, if nothing else, the cellphone looks very nice. It fits very nicely into the palm of your hand and the slider action is tensile enough to make you want to open and close it enough times to upset the PR representatives. It has the same LG interface as their other cellphones on Verizon, so previous LG users won't have to learn a new menu structure. Its music capabilities weren't shown to me, but the touch-button interface may end up being liked to the 3G iPod's: love it or hate it. I never really bought into the RAZR hype a few years ago, but the Chocolate has more going for it than a hip name and thin body. LG says the Chocolate will include a 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth support and a micoSD memory port. For more pics of Chocolate goodness, hit the jump.

chocopenangle.jpgLG's Chocolate should be available on July 31, but LG didn't reveal any pricing information, deferring to Verizon. Rumor had it that it shouldn't be more than $199 with a 2-year contract, but that's not exactly set in stone. (You know, being a rumor and all.)
