Here's an odd one for you. If you're not fond of sour patch kids or bitter lemon, you may want to check out these tablets made from a tropical fruit native to West Africa. A pink-colored tablet, they contain a sweet-inducing protein called miraculin which will make anything sour that you eat taste sweet for up to 2 hours.
This is because the protein miraculin firmly binds to sweet receptor cells in a person's tongue when sour substances are present. The protein then transmits a false message to the brain, resulting in a strong, sweet taste.
