The humble doorbell has just made the leap into the 21st century. DoorLinX by Netstreams can play an MP3 of your choice whenever someone presses your doorbell button, and that MP3 is easily placed on the slim wall-mounted slab via WiFi.
Imagine that, now you can play Captain Picard's doorbell sound through the DoorLinX's 4-watt speaker, and even hook up a door latch activation relay to its TouchLynx touchscreens. We've been looking all over for a doorbell like this, and finally it's here. Now if Netstreams could just set its price and availability and then bring it to market, we'll be first in line.

It would be really cool if you could add a fingerprint scanner and have personalized rings.
Have a lady friend over and your girlfriend's ring chimes? Everybody out the window!
damn, I've been dreaming about a doorbell like this ever since I was born. I can already imagine all the cool "ringtones" I'd make it play :D
this is revolution! who cares about ps3 or the wii if you can have an mp3 doorbell?
That would be great but girlfriends don't usually knock...
overkill?
I've been married for five years, I can't remember what girlfriends do.
Also, let it be noted anyone with Captain Picard's doorbell chime isn't getting laid anyway.
You can make it sound exactly like a doorbell, only with an embeded subliminal message that subconsciously plants the suggestion in your guests that the sound they just heard was extra cool because it wasn't really a doorbell at all.
Oh man, I want one of these so badly, but just because of the Picard door sound from ST.
My wife's been bugging me to build this so she can have a Loon Tremelo for her doorbell. I hope they bring it to market so I don't have to do it myself. (I was going to use a cheap MP3 player - just needed a way to make it "play")
