Put those old Pentium processors to good use by making you a nice warm cup of coffee in the morning. By the looks of it, all you have to do is hook up some wires from a USB cable to the processor itself and wait for the chip to heat up. Throw a cup of coffee on top and you're well on your way to a coffee-powered morning bender.
It's a little known fact that Gizmodo is more or less powered by gadgets and coffee. Combine the two and you've just about made our day. Cheers to gadget recycling!

Sweet! I have an old Pentium chip at home in my in box doin' no one no good. If I could make it keep my coffee warm, so much the better!
Gives new meaning to "Liquid Cooling" eh?
Meh. My old Athlon Palamino chip runs hotter.
Suck it Intel fanboys!

Hack a Day got "burned" by this too.
The chip doesn't do the heating, the resistors under it do.
Still neat when you remember the fuss over Pentium-related fires back in the day.
Unfortunatly, he didn't do anything as cool as actually hooking up the processor. He's just shorting out his USB port's power by hooking up a resistor or two to the 5v and ground wires. He just taped the resistors to the bottom of the processor. You could put anything there and it would heat up, you don't need a processor, 'cause it's not actually processing.
Why not spray some plastic dip over the mobo and set your drink right on top of the heatsink?
Imagine what you could do with firewire instead of USB...
Firewire burn......
