Pet Umbrella

 - GizmodoWhat better way to let your animals know you love them—aside from feeding them, obviously, and not killing them—than by attaching an umbrella to them. Yes, for those of you for whom a Burberry jacket is not sufficient to keep little Shitheel warm and dry—the pet umbrella.

You hook this thing to the pet's collar and hold on to it with your free hand and then, as the rain pours down around you and your miniature Scotty, you notice your sagging, withered dugs and tanned, taut, death-mask of a face in the Sacks Fifth Avenue mirror and realize that you are old, horribly, horribly old, and your husband doesn't love you, not that he ever did. Then you go into Barneys.

  • Way to nail the demographic, Giz.

  • I know someone that has this for their dog. They can't use it because their dog is absolutely terrified of the thing.

  • Notice how the woman (and it could only be a woman) is having to extend her arm to keep from getting hit by the umbrella? I would think that's going to get tiring after a while. That's called "crappy design". Sometimes people have a hard time understanding that dogs have fur that naturally sheds the rain...no need for humiliating them further with things like clothing and umbrellas.

  • Looks like a great way to get rid of unwanted pets! Attach the largest size to the smallest dog and take for a walk in a high wind - Oh we Brits are too sick! ;-)

  • What is more amazing: 1) That somebody would invent this? 2) That somebody would manufacture this? 3) That somebody would buy this? I weep for our species....

  • the other day when my dad was sitting on the beach with my dog it got too hot so he put up this huge golf umbrella up for her so that she would be cooler, she actually dug it, and all the chics, as per usual, dug her too...the scene, as expected, looked like something you might see in some sort of bizar magazine that you'd glance at in the super market but would never actually buy for fear of loosing whatever little dignity you had left.

  • This could come in handy in Phoenix when the temps hit 116 and your dog could use a little shade instead of bursting into flame and running down the street, howling like Richard Pryor. Wait a minute, that's why I have a dog in the first place. Never mind.

  • You should have seen my face when I saw that picture. It changed to pure desperation on the brink of crying feeling sorrow for humanity as a whole, knowing the end is near. What a stupid idea. And Vince! You can't humiliate a dog dude. It's a friggin dog! One thing though, Those city dogs do get wet because their owners take them in the shower with them every day washing that "smell" (Protective grease layer) away. Sick bastards. I'm off to have a coffee.

  • When i was younger and childless I actually bought a raincoat for my dog.... God was I stupid....

  • How many posts before anyone noticed that to hold it at that angle you'd have to be about 8' tall?

  • I know someone who was part of the development team for this product, to the smart ass above, See the bending part of the rod? It holds itself at an angle. Also ive seen alot of dogs that wont even walk in the rain, they jump at the wetness of the thing, Keep in mind its a 17$ product, so its more of a good gift for someone with a small dog than something that someone NEEDS and cant live without.
Its a really functional product though, Although i do agree that a good amount of the sales will be paris hilton wannabe's That put sweaters on their dogs in 70 degree weather, But still answer me this,
Who wants to towel off their dog in seattle Every time they take a walk? Nobody, So all you people that have lost faith in humanity because of this product obviously dont know the smell of wet dog.

  • small dogs do get awfully wet on the undersides too though because they're so close to the ground...so I suppose it wouldn't make a great deal of difference when Fido decides he wants to check out that neat looking puddle.

  • The Western PA Humane Society is a shelter for displaced animals. There are many reasons animals end up in the shelter like stray, elderly can't take care of them, owner died, etc. Whichever reason, the shelter is sure to have your next best friend there waiting for you.
