Phlash Adds Flash to Mobile Phones

Phlash is a self-contained LED unit powered by coin-shaped lithium batteries that lets you add flash to your mobile phone pictures. You either stick Phlash on your phone with its self-adhesive backing or hang it from your phone with the included strap. Made for close-up photos of three feet or less, it's manually synchronized, meaning that you squeeze the button on Phlash as you take your picture, for what the company says are perfect photos every time. Made to work with all camera phones, it s now available for $29.99.

We'd like to try holding it to the side, up high, or behind the subject for some weird lighting effects.

  • Why? We're at that point that most cameraphone cameras are still quite crap-tacular. useless.

  • hmmm...a $30 led light - with double sided tape on the back... fascinating...

  • Weak. You can grab these for like $2 at the checkout lane at most stores with checkout lanes! Seems weird marketing it to cell phone users too.

  • they show the E800 there - but the E800 already HAS a flash!

  • What's the typical shutter time on an indoor mobile phone shot? I mean, how accurate do you have to be with pressing the button? Sounds like a potential challenge for (inevitably) drunk mobile picture-takers. Maybe they should just sell a phone sticker that reads 'you want to take pictures, get a f'ing camera...'

  • I'll sell you a 4D Maglite with a roll of duct tape for less, you don't have to worry about timing, flash range, or battery life.
