Yes it's bergundy red, you have to realize they are trying for a younger audience with a color other than grey or black. If you find this color offensive then you must be old, really old, like buying frozen "texas toast" in the freezer section of the supermarket because making toast is too much hassle old. I'm in my 30's and not quite that old yet. I have a red car and red motorcycle so it looks pretty sweet.
This is clearly not after the business market, but for the fun user who has a phone for personal reasons. Personally I think dark red and silver go together.

I currently own a red motorola mini moto. I like red phones cause most people don't have them. You can keep your black, silver or white phones.... boooooring!!

Nice but just like the Black version, it's still a very ordinary phone.
Can't send photos that you've taken with the Pearl. Alarm doesn't work unless the phone is switched on. Real cellphone 101 stuff, and they blew it. Mine sits in a box at home - never use it. Owning a Pearl is like having a really beautiful friend who's too embarrassingly stupid to take anywhere.

If I'm using a red phone, it's because I've been elected president and need to get on the phone to the Kremlin immediately to prevent a nuclear disaster. Other than that ... no thanks.

I'm old (42) and I'd get it. What's wrong with a little color? Hell, life's too short to worry about what someone else will think. Do what you want and screw everyone else.

I actually just got my 8100 about a week and a half ago (Amazon's got amazing deals on them through T-mobile right now).

I wanted to get the white one but ultimately decided to go with the black after going to Abt and looking at the actual handhelds before making a purcahse. This red one I would totally buy though... it's definitely a lot more subtle than the photoshop put up here last week. It's elegant looking, has a bit of color and a bit of shine, but isn't too loud like the red and pink LG Chocolate or the super-shiny KRZR phones.

There is nothing wrong with having a bit of color on one's handset. We all like to personalize our gadgets or have them make a statement about who we are or what we like.

Remember a few years back where EVERYONE had a silver RAZR?

As for the 8100 though,it's quite simply one of the best all-around phones I've ever used.

If you are a Fireman or Prostitute I see no problems here.
