Vulocity Mileage Logger Keeps Track of You for Good or Ill

vulocity.jpgFor those who save big tax bucks writing off mileage, sometimes keeping all those paper records of how many miles you've traveled is a huge pain in the ass. Vulocity Mileage Logger takes care of that for you with the flip of a switch. Using GPS, it keeps track of your location and counts the miles, and then sends that info via wireless data network to its servers. Then, you can download your travel records from anywhere.

At $250 for the GPS receiver/wireless transmitter and $15 a month, it's not a trivial expense, but get your boss to pay for it and save yourself tons of trouble. Let's just hope this can't be hacked, allowing the chief to track your clandestine side trips to the No-Tell Motel.

  • Except that everyone who claims mileage always bumps it up a bit. I'll be suprised if companies don't start making this mandatory to make sure you aren't trying to write off the road trip with the kids or that jaunt to another city for a baseball game.

  • I wish I had this device when I got audited two years ago. Everything that they asked me to do, like showing maps and locations, commenting on trip purposes, these guys did it. This is awesome. Was about time.

  • That's a neat product.

I'm in IT and I'm driving a lot to my clients. Logging the miles on a piece of paper is the last thing I have in mind especially when a server is down. I rather like the idea of flipping a switch then tracking the miles from odometer.
