Ben Heck, everyone's favorite video-game modder, has gone and done it again. This time, he's gone and stuffed an Atari AND an NES into a handheld portable, and dubbed it the NEStari. As usual, he goes through plenty of detail showing how he did it, and as usual, it's way too complicated for 99% of us to attempt on our own. [Ben Heck]

Once again, there is drool on my keyboard.
He's like Batman, making all these cool toys.
my god...it's stonehenge!
How the hell does he fit all the guts from 2 systems into such a small space??? It's witchcraft I tell you!
@Bender: Because he specifically DOES NOT fit all the guts in there. Having not even read Ben's page, I can assure you that it's a Chinese Nintendo-on-a-Chip (NOAC for short, but "cheap clone" to you) in there to be that size.
He also has designed smaller Atari mobos in the past to meet his needs, so it's probably a little of both for this one.
...or you could just use a PSP. It's bigger, better, and widescreen!
Thats the real Nintendo DS.
@rentahero1: Page read. It's a NOAC and an AOAC.
You know, I'm finally going to say this. Ben Heck IS a smart guy, I'll give him that. A bona-fide geek and electronics guru. But the "wow" factor in his mods, and what makes him different from other techies, is that he has access to a plastics routing and prototyping shop. Seriously, if he didn't have that he'd be unremarkable and so would his mods.
again, i kowtow to ben's amazing feats. he is a genius.
i wonder what this guy actually does for a living?
Am I the only one who thinks this looks bloody ugly. I've liked the looks of a few of his makes but this has to be one of the worst looking ones ever.
Why has no one offered to pay this guy millions of dollars to do really sweet shit? Or maybe they have . . . Anyway, this is awesome. I like how the Atari cartridge provides shade so you can see the screen in sunny environments.
@Taime
You're missing the point. The wood laminate evokes the same color, texture, and detail of a 1972 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser station wagon. The rainbow logo has the exact coloring of the suspenders worn by Mork from Ork.
Add some shag carpeting over the buttons and I'd re-grow my afro.
The seventies. You had to be there.
