According to DigiTimes sources, Nvidia is planning on rolling out GeForce 9 this February. They also noted that the first chip in the family will be the 65nm D9E —complete with support for DirectX 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1. As with all rumors, this should be taken with a grain of salt, so I wouldn't put your holiday plans for the 8800GTs on the backburner just yet. [DigiTimes via RegHardware via Gearfuse]

They do about one generation per year don't they? This series has been out for over a year now. It certainly is about time they updated. I want one in my Octo-Core.
Yeah I could use a new SLI setup in the MacPro as well. ATI doesn't seem to be doing anything useful anyway so I'll await Nvidias new series.
@ImTheKing: Dude! I was totally kidding. I didn't realize the dual-quad-core macs could be considered 'octo-core'. I was fantasizing about how awesome it would be to have 8 cores on a single chip. Some guy at The Inquirer has been rumoring that either Intel or AMD will come out with one next year. Maybe someday I'll have a computer that can run Supreme Commander to it's fullest extent. Today's tech just isn't cutting it!@
@el_gordo: I'm not sure how many applications could take advantage of 8 procs... I could be wrong, but I don't think there are a lot of multi-threaded programs out right now. (Except photoshop and the like)
Is it just me or were these comments derailed from the beginning? I'll be getting one of these new cards when they come out. Anything to make Crysis look more pretty.
Good luck finding an 8800GT in stock for those holiday plans.
@el_gordo: Actually, they do it every 6 months usually...
regardless, i'm stoked, not that I can afford one, but i'll at least be able to upgrade my fantasy...
