At the Web 2.0 conference, Dash GPS announced that they were providing an open API for mashing up the Cellular-equipped navigator with webapps. Here's the first live demo of Dash being used to drive through a neighborhood and call up the price and details on every house on the street using Zillow.com's Database. See that Silicon Valley house with the red door? It's 1150 square feet, yet 1.1 million bucks. What's cooler is that they've got craigslist, yahoo! search and other plugins for the Spring launch. And people will build a dozens more. I'm stoked for this thing. [Dash on Giz]

Do yourself a favor and don't trust Zillow's prices & stats. Get second opinions at Trulia and others. I don't know who sanity checks Zillow, but they need to get their eyes checked. A house up the street from us that sold last year is listed to have sold for $2.2mil when it actually went for about $800k (Sillycon Valley, go figure). Trulia had it wrong too, but they were only off by about $20k.
Other than that, a very cool system that Dash GPS is touting.
I agree, one example of a stat that is drastically off means that every stat they publish is equally as drastically off.
I really want to play GPS tag, or GPS hotter/colder
@illiniguy: Good idea. And yes, Zillow is zillow. But a yelp mashup in this thing could be amazing.
Very cool feature to add to Dash's potential possibilities with open coding & internet access. Now, if I can order taco bell from my gps before I get there, that'd be pretty wet. Sure wish I got into the beta test program.
I'm sure the prices on zillow are completely inaccurate in California as much as the housing prices fluctuate, and they never claim to be accurate (estimate), but try using it in the Midwest and you'll be amazed at how accurate it is.
It's a good idea! I think, it may be much better than before!
