Okoro HTPCs Show Off Their Blu-ray and HD DVD Love

Okoro.jpg If you're gonna get a PC for your living room, you might as well go all out and get one that supports the new high-def DVDs. Starting at $2,995, Okoro's BX100 and BX300 can read both Blu-ray and HD DVD discs from a single drive. And that's not all—they're packing some serious tech inside too.

They're built around a Intel Core 2 Duo (T7200 or E6600), come with 2GB of RAM standard, up to 1TB of storage and HDCP output via Nvidia's GeForce 8600 GTS video card. My one complaint is they're a little boxy on the eyes, but solid buys otherwise.

  • Not to mention this will look good next to my 1972 record player, both of which will be setting in my cardboard box in the alley after I blow all my rent money for electronics.

  • They are just Silverstone cases with stuff packed inside.

They could have at least taken the Silverstone logos off.

  • I agree. For $3,000 they should throw in an "Okoro" case badge. Am I the only one who dislikes that plastic wood panel in the middle of the black case? When are they going to replace those VFDs with full color SideShow panels?

  • Esthetically speaking, the biggest drawback I have about building my own HTPC is having logos that are not matched with other Home Theater components. I wonder if I could build my own using the same case and specs for cheaper? Also, separate optical disk drives for each spec would be beneficial for copying Disks...
