Packaging is one of the only things about the Apple TV that we haven't seen already. I was lucky enough to get one early. Biggest surprise? No cables in the box.

Wow, you would think they could at least throw in some Composite cables. Although most people would probally want to use component output.
That remote doesn't appear to offer many features.
When are you going to post a review?
Why would they throw in composite cables? The unit itself doesn't support composite connections, just component or HDMI.
Mmm... pretty... almost makes me want to buy one.
Apple must an agreement with Monster Cables (or some other over-priced manufacturer). Why wouldn't they just package a cheap HDMI cable with it?
i guess apple couldn't find anyone who could make component cables as cheap as their headphones. i'm talking the quality here, not the cost.
Actually, XtremeMac HDMI cables are only $20 at the Apple store and on their website.
i happenned to think that their headphones were inexpensive but decent quality...
I have a feeling it was one of those things where you don't want to include something in the box if not everybody is going to use it. Personally I wouldn't care.
No cables? At least through in components.
Will it work on my 480i-capable SDTV? (i.e. wtf does "Widescreen Television Required" mean exactly)
I bet a lot of people are going to buy these thinking they can hook them up to a standard TV and as a result there are going to be a lot of returns.

Looks like the guy who posted above you might be one of those people.
Xbox with XBMC > AppleTV.
Any XBMC user will side with me on that.
On the purchase page on Apple's store site, there's a "What you Need" link. That means it doesn't come in the Box.

People need to read before you plop down $300. That's why I'm not getting one. Because I can't afford a fancier TV. I can afford a $300 wireless syncing machine, but not a fancy TV too.
Why are you guys so surprised? We all know Apple stops caring about any of us the moment they get our money.
Damn.....bitter much?
If you hate them so, why would you buy any product from them in the first place?
Why the hate? I am very happy that Apple is not selling this box as a loss leader; I like not having it locked down, not having to hack the thing just to play around with it in "unsupported" ways. If they need to save a few bucks by not including a cable that will only be useful for a subset of customers anyway, so be it.
I would be disappointed if it cost more and came with a regular HDMI cable instead of the HDMI-to-DVI that I need (which I bought separately for $15).
Bottom line: I love my Apple TV already, and having paid attention when I ordered it, had the right cable ready to go before it even arrived.
