Everyone here shares Brian's disdain for cable internet companies, and we found just the video to express why.
A Comcast technician came over to a man's house to repair a faulty cable modem (one of two) after missing three appointments. The tech ten spent an hour on hold with Comcast's central office and then fell asleep on the guy's couch. Is there any more perfect scenario to highlight the unprofessionalism of both the repair guy and the central office?
Thanks Patrick!

Yeah but where is the felt tip marker to the face and or the duct taping to the couch?!?
SPRAY HIS ASS WITH THE HOSE!
Great great great. Someone spread this far and wide, so comcast will TRY to clean their crap up. They really are the king of mistakes, screwups, and f*ckups.
True story- I had a Comcast Cable tech install a new cable feed at my last apartment. After the installation was completed he asked if he could use my bathroom. Needless to say, 15-20 minutes later he was still in the bathroom. One of my friends had stopped by so we could head out to dinner. We all got quite a laugh out of the whole thing.
..and we still pay for cable and the internet. Why do we hate cable companies so much, yet put up with their bull? Because they are likely the only game in town. I hate regulation like the next guy, but maybe it's time for a little shake-up.
well thats what the phone companies planning to offer cable are about to do. Cable companies work because they all made sweetheart deals to not invade each others turf and to sell only to citys, not people. Thus you cant be in comcast land and try to get cablevision because your city or town doesnt have a contract for cablevision to be in your town. The phone companies arn't playing that game, which is why you see attack ads from the cable companies all over blasting them saying they are going to ruin the world and all other sorts of nonsense. For once cable companies will actually HAVE a competitor, and its scaring them shitless right now. course the phone companies have the reverse problem with VoIP. In then end though, for once the consumer will actually win out of this.
I gotta say, after having comcast for a long time and then having to switch to bell south when I moved, I'd take comcast anyday. Bell south is teh suxors.
A soft couch after rattling the brain with cable hell is sure to do this.
lol very well done. can anyone provide me with the name of the song by any chance?
I wanted to see the guys reaction on the video when he wakes him up. He shoulda kept the camera rolling. that would've been hillarious.
jrghoull, it's Eels -- I Need Some Sleep
Kinda dick of this guy to record him and put it up online, IMO. I'm sure being a Comcast repair guy you've got enough problems to deal with as it is...
Latest news in today's (6/26/06) New York Times, "...a spokeswoman, Beth Bacha, said the repairman no longer worked for the company." So basically, the repair guy was fired after falling asleep after being on hold with the central office for an hour. Not really fair that they should punish the guy for going thru the same cr@p that we customers go thru anytime we call them. Heck, I'll admit that I've fallen asleep in my office while on terminal hold with numerous tech support call centers... Talk about "shooting the messenger" -- jeeesh!
On one hand I hate to see the guy lose his job, but on the other hand that is pretty unprofessional and it can't be a huge suprise that Comcast would have to react to this. Maybe the downside of all this great viral entertainment is the real world consequences that the publicity brings. In a lot of ways I miss the days when you could say something controversial and not have it impact someone. I guess it's all fun and games until someone loses a job.
I on the other hand, had my "threesome" hooked up 10/4/06, & have tried ever since to give an "Atta-Boy" to the tech. Getting passed around to one department after another, & never getting to speak to a Supervisor or Manager. Seems the company only wants to hear the crazy stuff, not the good stuff
Don't be so hard on the guy, I was a DirecTV installer once, 6 days a week of climbing on roofs, crawling in basements, etc. can really wear you out! Craig, http://www.hometheaterinsider.net
