JVC HD-58S998: The Slimmest Rear Projection TV on the Planet Proves it Can Run with the Big Dogs

Measuring in at 10 inches deep, JVC's 58-inch HD-58S998 is the thinnest rear projection TV around, challenging its skinnier plasma and LCD counterparts on both screen size and price (the JVC goes for about $2,400). But does its sexy thin waist line come at the price of performance? According to the folks at C|NET, not at all. In fact, if not for a few geometry issues (the TV couldn't display perfectly straight vertical or horizontal lines), this 1080p set would have been a near-perfect specimen. So unless you have eagle eyes, plan on staring at text/TV Guide menus all day long, or just don't like fatties, this TV is worth a look.
