    PlayStation 3 Games Cost $75 to $84 at Launch? Are They Insane?

    Despite gamer's hemming and hawing, Microsoft showed that the market was ready for $59 games again a year ago. Sony's looking to one-up that now with news that PlayStation 3 games may cost $75 to $84 at launchtime. What?

    The last time I remember paying this much for an optical media-based game was, well, never. The last time any game cost this much was back in the SNES days, and then only for blockbuster games like Street Fighter 2 and Chrono Trigger.

    We're laying the blame on Sony trying to recoup costs for their PS3 console and their Blu-ray technology. But that doesn't lessen the load on our wallets. – Jason Chen
