Should you max out the 20GB or 60GB of your PS3 you might want to make plans to visit the Akihabara district of Tokyo. There you'll find the Century external hard drive, complete with 750GB of storage space for your overpriced video game console. (Or you could just swap in a regular 160GB hard drive, I suppose.) The Century can be set up as either RAID 0 or RAID 1, with the PS3 recognizing 698GB at any one time. This looks like just enough space to dump more than a handful of Blu-ray movies. Not that we advocate that, mind you.

Is the PS3 an overpriced game console, or an underpriced Blu-Ray player (or both in one)?

PS3 is NOT overpriced; it costs $840 to make the 60G version we bought it for $600; it was such a bargain in a time what's its face phone will be hitting the same retail mark.
I'm tired of American ignorant consumers claiming that such devices such as the iPhone and the PS3 and anything else over a couple hundred bucks are overpriced. Anything good costs money - Parasound Halo or B&K components, Tannoy speakers, Technics M5G turntables, Canon 30D camera, Japanese selvage denim, etc.
To be more pertaining to the subject, the PS3 is indeed more expensive than the Wii, but not that much more than an X360. The American market whined about the pricing of the PS3 so much that we got a huge markdown compared to other countries, so just imagine the backlash if it was released at its original price point.
People whining about the iPhone pricing are mindboggling as well, as any unlocked imported smartphone has always been $500-600, with the first RAZRs released in the UK for US$800.
To summarize, stick with your free phones, Wranglers, dummy cams, and home theater in a box and quit your bitchin.
Jeez, what's with the hostility? The Playstation 3 's is going to be differently judged by each person. The Playstation 3's price is stated as fact. Whether or not you can justify spending that much money on a console is dependent on each person.
IMO, the Playstation 3 is expensive. $600 for a game console is too much for me personally. You could just upgrade your PC with that money and still get good gaming experience. As for the massive 750GB hard drive in RAID, seems unnecessary to need 750GB of hard drive space for a PS3. For a computer, you might possibly use that much, if you're running a server or something.
