We just spotted a series featuring technology superstars on CBS's 60 Minutes show. The interviews may not be new, but the show teasers are awesome. The best of the bunch is by far the interview with Bill Gates, whose usually modest demeanor is thrown out the window. Check it out after the jump:
He eats fries the whole way through, he tells about how he knew he was smart, he appears baffled by the concept of loose change and he completely owns the burger joint, (you just know that that is his regular seat.) I'm going to be brave and put it out there: Gates is cool. Damn cool. If you disagree, we think he'll have you shot. Don Gates, you have our friendship. Be sure to check out the entire series, with Larry Ellison, Steve-o and Jeff Bezos all making appearances, you'd be a dithering fool to miss it. Hit up the link for other encounters with technology's A-list. [Yahoo]

Can he spare some change? Curious to know how much he gave the guy... if anything.
He definitely has that "conquered" swagger.
Dicks Drive-In: Greatest. Burger Joint. Ever.
Bill Gates, you're stupid!
Yeah! I'm the FIRST!!!!
i think the guy didn't know even who he is... stock went down a little, maybe he did give SOME spare...
Bill Gates is the man.
end of story.
Anyone know where I can find the whole complete interview?
@lpxxfaintxx: i'd be interested in it as well. he is such a cool guy...
The guy at the window looks exactly like a friend of mine who moved up to Seattle a few years back. He's successful, and wouldn't need to beg for change, but he definitely -would- do that to Bill Gates if he saw him in public.
he's no Steve Jobs.
@FThorn: Thank god He isn't
@FThorn: Exactly, every other word isn't boom.
@FThorn: Yea.. and thats the best part about it..
Bill gates.is a cool dude. : )
but i wanted to know if he gave some change to the guy.. (if anyone remember the south park episode of what happens with you give, homeless people change... u know whats going to happen..
Gates: I'll have a deluxe burger
Cashier: [into microphone] Deluxe burger, it's for bill gates
Gates: What the hell's that all about? You gonna spit in it now?
Cashier: No, I just told him that so he makes it good. [into microphone] Don't spit in gates' burger.
Gates: Yeah, thanks
burger maker: Roger, holding the spit.
Those are 'french fries' not chips. Duh.
I mean, that would be like calling a chip something stupid like a crisp...
A nerd by any other name...
Bill Gates eats fast food?
That's awesome. I live in Seattle, and I go to Dick's just about 3 times a week. It's the greatest burger joint ever. Bill Gates is amazing.
@bobdobbs: Your just jealous that your not the second most richest man in the world.
Gates > Jobs
I saw this interview a LONG time ago... maybe even in the 90's? I was a teen, I know that, and I'm 24 now. Anyway, I remember him just being chatty, not rude. Also, I very clearly remember him giving the guy in the window a hundred dollar bill that he autographed. Okay, maybe a LITTLE full of himself...
@discounteggroll:
Nice job rockin' the obscure Super Troopers quote!!
BG: "I'll have a double cheeseburger with fries and coke." (turns away) "Oh!" (turns back)"And throw in the joint. No wait, give the whole franchise on the side."
that bum is definately the smartest of his species - asking bill gates for change!
the guy really is a living legend, too bad he got a bunch of dushbags working for him. his like the Christopher Columbus of the century.
@KernelG:
funniest comment i've read in a while...thanks
@bbfreak: isn't he number 4 now? ambani, carlos slim, buffet, then gates?
I have no way to like or dislike the guy, I dont know him in person but looks like is possible to have a civil and not only microsoft/HIV/what_I_think_the_world_needs type of conversation. Once that's said, I always disliked his company's development approach and business behavior. And that is not why I don't mind using another operating systems, that is another story.
God damn... he's such a hard role model to have. How the fk am I EVER going to be that rich?
Alright, time for some more Halo to recover my ego.
@ajadoniz: umm think he's still on top :

i dont give bill gates as much cred as the rest of you are giving him. he was being given compliments...something that he gets all the freaking time. not to mention i'm sure he's had a million interviews like this. and personally i dont consider him anything of a genuis. he made some really good moves at just the right time, but lets not overdo it here people.
i'll give credit where credit is due though. he does alot for the community (gives a ton of money and scholarships away) and despite the number of (brown nosing) interviews that he has given, he was still pretty cool during this thing.
@bbfreak: I'm certainly not jealous of him being the number one douchebag.
Humility isn't one of his strong points, is it?
@DustinFtw:
LMFAO!
@BOBDOBBS:
"I'm certainly not jealous of him being the number one douchebag."
Really? So you don't mind second place?
@bobdobbs: well, when I see you trying to prevent infectious disease in Africa, you can say all the shit you want. But until then GTFO and STFU.
I was pretty sure he was #2 behind the telecom guy from mexico.
@blitzkrieg999:
Agreed. They've got a Dick's drive-in in downtown Spokane. I wasn't aware there were any others!
The guy actually said "Get a Mac!"
If you go on the site...My! SJ put on weight...
and again...where can I catch these interviews in its entirety?
@Ion_Predator: "Really? So you don't mind second place?"
Nah, I'll leave that to you.
@bartboy919: How do you know I'm not, a-hole?
I wouldn't mind hanging out with the guy casually like that, shit no.
My whole computing world REALLY started spinning with MS DOS 3.3 and went up from there.
The guy had a hand in what is probably the vast majority of my real world computing experience.
I'm no fan boy, but I HAVE to give him props.
Night after night of gaming started with booting an MS OS machine, not to mention useful stuff.
[YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY]
[FINDING SOME DRIVERS WAS NOT AS FUN AS IT MAY APPEAR FROM A DISTANCE]
Dude. Props.
I love Bill Gates. :)
@BOBDOBBS:
"Nah, I'll leave that to you."
WOW! How clever.
"How do you know I'm not, a-hole?"
Easy,
You're on Gizmodo, indicating two things:
1) You're in a place with electricity.
2) You're in a place connected to the internet.
Last time I checked, desolate areas in Africa don't have these things. Nice try though.
@bobdobbs: too bad having like about 40 billion dollars and being very smart beats being a douche
@Ion_Predator: When's the last time you went to Africa?
@Joseph:
Never.
But paying attention to those commercials on TV helps.
I spoke to a guy who interviewed Bill Gates in South Africa, apparently he was acting like such a tool while the camera was off... "Don't you know who I am, I'm Bill Gates..". Who cares!
Stupid is one thing Gates is not. Suave? Not so much.
Sadly, the man in the window was an employee of Xerox.
@zarchitect: people don't stay rich by giving money to those who don't deserve it.
off topic, but i am fed up with your godawful video player, just upload them to youtube or something, this thing is absolute rubbish
Although most of us are not particularly fond of Micro$oft. I have to say I admire Bill Gates as a person, he has given alot to people/causes of less fortune (e.g. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation). Not many have done what he has done in that regard. I can't say as much for Steve Jobs...... fLaMe!
