Sharp Actius AL27

actiusAL27.jpg imageThis new Sharp Actius PC-AL27 is weird. They're billing it as a desktop replacement machine, and I'll grant them that putting an AMD Athlon 64 2700+ (Mobile version) and 512MB of PC2700 RAM is a good start, but then they inexplicably shackle it with an S3 Graphics video chipset which renders it unsuitable for serious gaming and top it off with a 15-inch LCD with only an 1,024 x 768 pixel resolution. I could accept the S3 chipset if they were trying to appeal to business users, but who in their right mind would accept a resolution that low these days in a $1,500 laptop?
